Safe Haven with Virtual Voice -try it on 1.2 speed
Revisado: 05-21-24
I loved this book as I love all of Danielle’s books. Laura and Cade bring their youthful infatuations full circle but before that happens there are major hurdles to overcome. One, she’s pregnant with another man’s baby. Two, someone is trying to kill her.
I love audiobooks, and was excited that Danielle finally started putting them out. Wait! They are narrated by virtual voice. I didn’t like it at first, but I upped the speed to 1.2 and the narration was almost human. Give it a try. I think I’ll buy some more of her audiobooks.

Historia
David Xavier - and all those he loved or counted as friends - would forever be mouth-watering targets to men of evil intent. His wealth could settle a small country's foreign debt. Because of this, from the moment of his birth, his mother obscured his identity. Reborn as the man named Gabriel, however, he walked free into a world where the innocents and the weak cried out for a defender, for the hand of justice, for a guardian angel.

Surprise delight by new to me author.
Revisado: 02-14-23
I selected this story from audible plus, not expecting much. I immediately fell in love with the characters and the unusual circumstances they find themselves in. Brianna escapes from the states to Ireland after she loses her last relative. Complications with her new home causes no end to troubles and delights. I bought the second in the series immediately after finishing the first.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Not one of my favorites
Revisado: 05-06-19
I haven't read a Nicholas Sparks book in several years, and I picked the wrong one to start back on. I didn't connect with any of these characters. It was missing the emotional ride that you expect with his books.
Lexie Darnell returned home to Boone Creek, North Carolina after a failed relationship and vows she will stay there with her psychic grandmother.
Jeremy Marsh is a New York City journalist that specializes in debunking the supernatural. He comes to Boone Creek to uncover the truth about ghost sightings and falls for the librarian, Lexie.

It get a little hot in the kitchen
Revisado: 05-04-19
This story is an old one that I've read many times. This time it was on audio.
Summer is a renown, master chef, Blake is in control of a major world-wide hotel chain. Both are demanding in their careers and their love-life. Both are arrogant, deservedly so. Blake hires her to revamp his Philadelphia hotel kitchen. She is demanding of design and equipment. He gives her everything she wants. He felt sparks fly the moment he saw her work.
Some may not like this as it's not what Nora Roberts is currently writing, but for me it's nice to go home again. It's a quick fun read.

Forty Years is a Long Time to Hope
Revisado: 05-01-19
Forty years is a long time to hope for the return of your child.
Seven-year old Lissie Woodham chased after a puppy instead of watching her four-year-old sister, Janey. The little girl along with the special signature doll made by her mother were never seen again. Every year on the anniversary of the day Janey went missing her mother offers a reward for the return of the doll. After forty years someone brings a doll forward that could be Janey’s doll. Lissie and her own daughter, Vanessa, search for clues to find out what happened all those years before.
The story weaves around abduction, betrayal, and attempted murder before the truth finally comes out.
This is a well written mystery that teaches you a lot about doll making. I had my suspicions of who the guilty party might be but kept on with the story to find out for sure and why it happened.

Historia
For two years, Catherine Marks has been a paid companion to the Hathaway sisters—a pleasant position, with one caveat. Her charges’ older brother, Leo Hathaway, is thoroughly exasperating. Cat can hardly believe that their constant arguing could mask a mutual attraction. But when one quarrel ends in a sudden kiss, Cat is shocked at her powerful response—and even more so when Leo proposes a dangerous liaison.

Sparks fly before that Married by Morning
Revisado: 03-24-19
Catherine Marks has worked two years as companion for the Hathaway family, all the while hiding a secret that could destroy her if known. It's a pleasant position except for the older brother, Leo Hathaway. Their relationship is volatile, fighting all the time, until that fighting ends in a kiss.
Leo must marry within a year and produce an heir or lose the family home. He doesn't want to marry as he'd already lost the love of his life to fever. The more Cat and Leo fight, the more they like it and he decides she should be his wife. But Cat refuses because of her past.
I liked this story, I'm sorry I didn't read them in order. But it's a good story on its own. Will catch up with the others and pretend I don't know how they ended up. I love Lisa Kleypas' writing and the narrator was perfect for the story.

Phoebe stands alone at the HIGH NOON show down
Revisado: 03-14-19
Hostage negotiator, Phoebe MacNamara is called to the roof of an apartment to stop a jumper. That is where she meets Duncan Swift. He is impressed by her sense of purpose as well as her looks and can't get her out of his mind. Phoebe's life is rife with challenges: Single mother, demanding job, agoraphobic mother, and a stalker.
Duncan won the lottery and spends his time rebuilding old properties and increasing his wealth. They are perfect together. He understands her problems and isn't afraid to jump in. She is the glue that holds her family together but her strength is tested when someone from her police department turns on her.
I have read this book several times as I love Duncan Swift. This time I listened to it on audio. Loved that too.

Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

First Grave on the right. It Won’t be the last.
Revisado: 01-05-19
This is the first book in a long series. It’s a mystery, a romance, a paranormal love affair all wrapped up in a humorous package.
Charlie Davidson is a PI. Her clients are all dead. Her Uncle Bob is a detective and Charlie helps him solve his cases with the help of the victims who have not crossed over. Since childhood, she knew she was different, seeing and talking to dead people but recently she learns that she is more - the Grimm Reaper. Reyes Farrow comes to her as an unseen entity. But he’s more than that. If she closes her eyes he is there. She can touch him and feel his hands on her but he’s not real, or is he?
This is a fun read. Give this series a try. Lorelei King does a wonderful job on the narration.
