A lot of characters
Revisado: 01-08-25
I liked the shades when they showed up. Also many characters to keep track of, but it made it interesting.

The diversity of the characters realistic personalities
Revisado: 01-15-24
At first, I didn’t care for the performers voice, how the book was being read. But as it went on, her performance pulled you in and each character had such a believable personality, given the times and the environment. The setting and characters were so vivid that in my mind eye, I was there watching the story unfold. One of my favorite books of all times, read by a gifted storyteller.

Realistic language used in a story of an impoverished community
Revisado: 12-02-23
I both enjoyed the story and cringed at the way the lives of these characters were played out in this impoverished community. The characters with levels of influence and or physical strength took advantage of their town was maddening and I couldn’t wait for them to get their comeuppance. The language is strong but believable and necessary in this story.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

The Kitchen House story comes alive
Revisado: 01-20-23
I’ve listened to this book over & over. I always find some new details when going over previous chapters. The characters sound so real, much like people I’ve met or seen. I’ll continue to listen to it over & over, never tiring of the story. 5 stars on all accounts for this book.

Wish it was better, loved another one of her books
Revisado: 10-01-22
The story had a pretty good plot, but it had so much unless, wordy, filler sentences, paragraphs. It could have been written in 3 chapters and been just as entertaining. I would’ve like to hear more relevant or relatable events rather than so many words that say not that much. The actor reading the book was awesome though. She made me think of my dads Irish family.
