I really liked this series until the dad was killed, and the dog was killed.

Why do the best characters have to die? And the dog!?! I was done after that. Who cares. They’re all going to die anyway

Narrator ruined the book!
Revisado: 08-24-22
The main character spoke like a normal person, every other character sounds like a screeching cartoon. So loud and irritating, not a normal voice. Horrible. I couldn’t finish the book. I really wanted to like the book but it’s impossible. Just sooooooooo ridiculous!!!!!!

Historia
From one of the most revolutionary writers of the twentieth century comes the uncensored and gritty novel that inspired today's street lit and hip-hop culture. After my ninth birthday, I began to really understand the meaning of my name. I began to understand just what my mother was doing for a living. There was nothing I could do about it, but even had I been able to, I wouldn't have changed it.

Historia
The stuff of conspiracy theories makes for great, entertaining stories in movies, books, and television. And there is no shortage of subjects: from who really killed JFK to the truth behind 9/11. And then, there are subjects from alien invasions to the Moon landing was simulated - theories that are truly out of this world, which according to some, is flat. Many of these crazy concepts have jumped off the pages or screens to become so pervasive in our culture that thousands - even millions - subscribe to them as reality.

Aggravating
Revisado: 04-06-21
I could only listen to the first 20 minutes. Every time he lists a conspiracy theory (every 30 seconds) he changes his voice so dramatically, to make sure you know that “conspiracy theorists “ are idiots. So if you believe everything the government tells you is true...you are a genius (like the author-of course!). If you believe otherwise, you are an uneducated idiot.

Historia
Half-Korean, half-Japanese, Masaji Ishikawa has spent his whole life feeling like a man without a country. This feeling only deepened when his family moved from Japan to North Korea when Ishikawa was just thirteen years old, and unwittingly became members of the lowest social caste. His father, himself a Korean national, was lured to the new Communist country by promises of abundant work, education for his children, and a higher station in society. But the reality of their new life was far from utopian.

Hard to say that I enjoyed this book, because it's a tragic life story. I think everyone should read it tho. the further I got into the book, the more I realized I had no clue what it is really like in Korea!! Eye opening!
