Historia
After a horrible marriage, Haggard has zero plans of ever finding a woman again. One-night stands not counting, he adores his life as a single man. There are no expectations. No "where are yous" and "are you coming homes". The life he chooses to live is a simple one. Until he makes a huge mistake, and he steps over that line between "daughter’s best friend" and "a woman he desperately wants". Before long, he can’t stop thinking about her. Can’t stop wanting her. Can’t stop feeling things for her that a man 20 years her senior should never feel for a girl he watched grow up.

I liked this story. From the previews I thought it would be much darker. It’s not. Yes he is an “outlaw biker”
But there’s not much on that in this story. Also, he’s the family oriented growly papa bear type of biker. He apparently hunts down human traffickers.
Heroine is his good friends daughter. He feels some guilt over “going there” but from the way the story is told, it’s rather inevitable.
There were some unexpected plot twists with heroines dad, didn’t see that coming. Also with her brother, didn’t see it coming and also not very plausible which is why it’s quickly explained and brushed off.
There is a great deal of sexual tension between these two. The zzzex scenes were really steamy- out of this world very well done. This story is really about these two compelling people, how they manage to become a couple and finding out more about their family. I particularly like Haggards family, both blood and biker. Looking forward for more, much more from Haggards families.
I enjoyed the female narrator, however I did struggle with her believability with male voices - sometimes it comes across the way I make fun of things my brother says when I’m repeating his words- other times she manages to pull off a decent male voice. The male narrator absolutely nailed the intimate scenes i applaud the decision to have him read them. I would put those on replay his voice is so yummy.

Historia
The moment that Wyett Villin read the ad on her local community’s page, she knew that it would be perfect. It didn’t matter how big the house was, what kinds of animals she had to take care of, or what the compensation was. She didn’t give a flip as long as it got her out of her childhood home and away from the person that she despised the most. Only, she had no clue that by accepting the position, she would be agreeing to watch over the mini-mansion and two large dogs of Hunt McJimpsey, computer hacker extraordinaire, sexy nerd, and convicted felon of Souls Chapel, Texas.

Loved it
Revisado: 05-19-21
Overall a great story and performance. At first it took me a few chapters to get into the narrators style, then I was so into the book it all just blended together as it should.
The way the author described the couple and their/ her needs in a relationship was great. It gave a very clear picture of their character and both stayed true to character throughout. I loved the dogs. They also had a starring role in the story. Great dogs. There were many laughs while listening, particularly at the end with the speeding ticket!! I Laughed so hard it was difficult to breathe and had sincere concerns about waking other people up. It’s 12:30 pm EST just finished. Really recommend getting this book.

Bane: Naked surfer. Habitual pothead. A con, a liar, a thief, and a fraud. Last I heard, he was extorting the rich and screwing their wives for a living. Which is why I’m more than a little surprised to find him at my threshold, looking for my friendship, my services, and most puzzling of all - looking humbled. Thing is, I’m on a boycott. Literally - cut boys from my life. Permanently. Problem is, Bane is not a boy, he is all man, and I’m falling, crashing, drowning in his sweet, perfect lies.

Story has the power to “take me away”
Revisado: 06-19-19
First, this was a great performance. Well done. I sincerely want an encore. It was that good, I never wanted the story to end. One of the better narrated books I have listened to-and switched back and forth to ebook periodically. I love that convenience. I’m left happy, impressed, and wanting to hear more-particularly from the male narrator, although the female narrator was also excellent-this guy just may be one of my favorite voices.
The story itself is a little different in some ways from the series, mostly due to the nature of the heroine’s experiences. Bane, the H, is somewhat typical of the hothole tradition that comes from this town, the epi-center of the series. He is a brash and irreverent surfer with some secrets that instill a great deal of self loathing and leads him to be both an entrepreneur and an escort. Jesse, aka, snowflake as Bane likes to call her is interesting and troubled. She suffered a brutal attack that also triggered some repressed memories. Her sorry is tragic, but for me also very relatable. I like where this character took us. I thought the journey was like that of the mythical Phoenix, we see a character who is consumed by pain and reborn from it as well. I have a strong desire to quote Bane from Dark Knight about things Born in darkness :) but I will resist. Sort of, cause now I’m geeking out with a raspy voice as I read this review to myself. I like the Russian Literature Reference in the story line and the profound quote Jesse tattooed on her back by Pushkin. I did think the author could have elaborated a bit more if Pushkin was to be a part of this, why limit us to just one line? Go for the gusto! I do adore the fact that when Bane thinks Snowflake is reading Russian literature she often has a dirty novel tucked inside.
Baron makes an appearance in this book, I understand the need to tie-in the hotholes, but for the sake of THIS story, his role should have been fleshed out a little more. There is no real clarity at the end that Bane is in a position to one day take over this town, not convinced why he is viewed as the town’s future ruler. This book works more as a stand alone novel in my headspace. The location and the appearance from Baron Spencer are the real tie in’s to the series and how brutal it can be on the heart. This is a very talented author. I recommend this to readers of gritty romance and dark treasures.

Historia
Meet Blaire. An underachieving college student with zero prospects and a ton of issues (hey, being the less-successful twin of a gorgeous supermodel would totally do that to you). She doesn't do bad boys. Actually, she doesn't do boys, like, at all. Not that she's a lesbian. And not that there's anything wrong with being one. It's just that...well...she kind of needs to focus on graduating from college right now.

I feel as though I need to listen to this one a few more times, or should I say Ty's?!
Revisado: 11-04-17
Not what I was expecting, and yet I am pleasantly surprised! I commend Rebecca Snow for her performance; she did an excellent job and I really enjoyed the variety of voices. (When they make the other twins book, please consider dropping the squeal and upseak, for me it would be somewhat unbearable to listen to an entire book devoted to a character with that type of voice -her sister has to hold the phone away from her ear when she speaks for a reason. I do want there to be a book for the model twin sister, I want to know what happened between her and the best friend. I suspect the "best friend" habitually pulls some D-bag moves.)
There were many twists and turns to this love story, Not a straight forward boy meets girl story. It's like an eight layer cake. Layers upon layers of deliciousness. I now find myself really attached to the two main characters Tyler and B(Blaire, Blaine, Barbie -yes Tyler disses the hot girl, all girls really until he realizes he LIKES this one hehehehe.) GREAT STORY!!!!!!!!! #MMA #BadBoy #Romance #Contemporary #College #NewAdult #Erotic #BooksYouTellYourFriendsAbout

Troy Brennan: Every Southie in Boston knows that name. The son of a dead mobster. The heartthrob with steel-blue eyes. "The Fixer" who can make or break you in this city. Oh, and my new husband. Sparrow Raynes: That's me. No one seemed to remember my name up until he barged into my life. But then he caged me. Kidnapped me. And killed every chance I had to run away from the place where we grew up.

I'm so glad my friend relentlessly text me about this book LOL! A-Mazing!
Revisado: 11-02-17
Wow. I loved this. Where to begin?
Narration was great. Michael Pauley makes me smile. I will look for more of his audio performances. I think he's top notch. He provided several accents for this story, most notably a nice thick Boston accent, South Boston, SOUTHIE!!!! HE MADE THE CHARACTERS SOOOOOO REAL. BRAVO!
L.J. Shen is now and forever a go to author for me. I can't believe I had this book in my library as long as I did without reading it-THANKFUL THIS IS IN AUDIO!!!!!!!!!!! I FEEL EXTREMELY LUCKY and privileged to be able to add the audible for only 1.99, I see the newest one is 7.49(darn) whatever, I just need to get it!!!!!!!!
The story: sexy, turbulant, violent, at times seedy, and somehow...still romantic. LoveBird. A man with a body made for fighting and f******, with a razor sharp wit, his tongue can cut its so sharp, no visible soft spots, he's just a BEAST. What's a BEAST to do when the father he loves and respects insists he marries Sparrow. And at the time Sparrow she's only 9 to his 19... There is so much to that part of the story and it is nerve wracking. A lot happens while The Fixer(H) is waiting for his little Lovebird to turn 18.
Sparrow is the most amazing h to come my way in what feels like ages, she's UNIQUE. I CAN'T. She is a juxtapostion, sweet like spin sugar taking care of drunken mob hanger-on father, friends, the homeless; and at the same time tough as nails, sharp as a tack, as quick with her wit as the bird she is named after would take flight. She's someone I can admire- I kid you not. Even in the worst of circumstances she won't surrender an ounce of personal dignity. Love this girl!!!!! She's a total Boss B when she needs to be. I say this with RESPECT.
Story also gives great villians! There are quite the cast of characters in this story and all have been well developed and written into the story seamlessly.
On a more personal note, this story is how I wish Ray and Abby Donovan's story has turned out. This is the closure i DESPERATELY NEEDED after devoting a few seasons to the show Ray Donovan and now they have come up short in the love department and it was taking a roll on my emotions. This story not only entertained me(through a two day infusion) it brought me some much needed Romantic Boston Closure, thank you soooooooooo much L J Shen.
