Historia
A disastrous debate, a would-be assassin’s bullet, an electrifying eleventh hour candidate swap, dramatic and surprising VP selections, betrayals behind closed doors, charges of a stolen election, game-changing blunders—the history-making 2024 presidential election is a political saga of Shakespearean proportions. In minute-by-minute detail, esteemed White House historian and political analyst Chris Whipple chronicles the unprecedented drama as it unfolds.

A Fair and balanced presentation of the 2024 campaign
Revisado: 04-23-25
I hazard to say the majority of the negative reviews were derived from people who never read the book. I’ve read several of Mr. Whipple’s books and have found them all well researched, and dare I say fair and balanced. This one didn’t change my impression. I found it an accurate presentation of the 2024 campaign and thank Chris for writing it.

Historia
When, at age forty-six, Nancy Pelosi, mother of five, asked her youngest daughter if she should run for Congress, Alexandra Pelosi answered: “Mother, get a life!” And so Nancy did, and what a life it has been. In The Art of Power, Pelosi describes for the first time what it takes to make history—not only as the first woman to ascend to the most powerful legislative role in our nation, but to pass laws that would save lives and livelihoods, from the emergency rescue of the economy in 2008 to transforming health care.

Nancy really knew how to make sausage
Revisado: 09-22-24
Compared to the current House leadership, Nancy was a genius! Her book shows how she was able to shepherd through the house some of the most consequential legislation of the past two decades. I really enjoyed the look back at her tenure and hearing it in her own words was a wonderful bonus.

Ingrassia lost his mother, two sisters, brother, and nephew to cancer—different cancers developing at different points throughout their lives. And while highly unusual, his family is not the only one to wonder whether their heartbreak is the result of unbelievable bad luck, or if there might be another explanation. Through meticulous research and riveting storytelling, Ingrassia takes us from the 1960s—when Dr. Frederick Pei Li and Dr. Joseph Fraumeni Jr. first met, not yet knowing that they would help make a groundbreaking discovery that would affect cancer patients for decades to come.

An Excellent Series for the Middle School.
Revisado: 07-18-24
As a retired language arts teacher of middle school students and also a retired librarian, I wish I was teaching again just to be able to introduce young adults to this series. They are the "whole enchilada" and would be excellent at keeping kids hooked, a challenge in the age of social media. I could use each book to teach lit skills, math, science, geography, and who knows what else. I actually became acquainted with Trudi on social media through our shared love of all things cats. I had several of her earlier books in my school library and was excited when I heard about this project. She didn't disappoint! Now she's working on another series with a female protagonist that I look forward to reading.

Part memoir, part history, Burn Book is a necessary chronicle of tech’s most powerful players. This is the inside story we’ve all been waiting for about modern Silicon Valley and the biggest boom in wealth creation in the history of the world. When tech titans crowed that they would “move fast and break things,” Kara Swisher was moving faster and breaking news. While covering the explosion of the digital sector in the early 1990s, she developed a long track record of digging up and reporting the facts about this new world order.

If you have MS, you need this book!
Revisado: 03-19-24
If I only had this book 15 years ago when I was diagnosed. I can still remember the slow progression of my disability. Before diagnosis, a traditional PT told me the problem was with me, that I wasn't working hard enough or doing it wrong. The look on her face when I told her I had just been diagnosed with MS was a wonder to behold. I just couldn't unlock the "key" to help myself; all the traditional exercises didn't work. When I discovered Gretchen this past summer, I knew right away her functional exercises were just what the doctor ordered. In addition to the book and the Audible version, I purchased the rights to a 4 week/5 day online video that is just loaded with daily exercise routines that hit all the important functional exercises to improve my strength, balance, flexibility, etc. I firmly believe everyone diagnosed with MS needs all of Gretchen's wisdom.

Revisado: 02-07-24
Like so many others have reiterated, politically, Liz and I couldn't be further apart. However, Liz will have my undying admiration for putting country over party. Liz, Alyssa, Stephanie, Cassidy, and Jordan could well end up being the saviors of democracy. My only question, where are the men?

"Doing the right thing is the definition of integrity", and Cassidy Hutchinson demonstrated more integrity than the current 535 residents of Capitol Hill. At her age, I don't know if I would have had her courage. A tremendous story well written and not lacking any details. I sincerely hope she finds peace and happiness in her life.

Historia
As one of the strategists behind the famous 2012 RNC “autopsy,” Miller conducts his own forensic study on the pungent carcass of the party he used to love, cutting into all the hubris, ambition, idiocy, desperation, and self-deception for everyone to see. In a bracingly honest reflection on both his own past work for the Republican Party and the contortions of his former peers in the GOP establishment, Miller draws a straight line between the actions of the 2000s GOP to the Republican political class's Trumpian takeover, including the horrors of January 6th.

Revisado: 11-08-23
I have come to enjoy Tim Miller's appearances on TV, writing for various sources, and contributions on podcasts. He has a true gift with words which shines through in this book. The only thing that could have made it better was Tim's narration of his own words. However, I'll take it!

Historia
The Roaring Twenties—the Jazz Age—has been characterized as a time of Gatsby frivolity. But it was also the height of the uniquely American hate group, the Ku Klux Klan. Their domain was not the old Confederacy, but the Heartland and the West. They hated Blacks, Jews, Catholics and immigrants in equal measure, and took radical steps to keep these people from the American promise. And the man who set in motion their takeover of great swaths of America was a charismatic charlatan named D.C. Stephenson.

I had never heard this story of the Ku Klux Klan, and I am very glad I listened to this book. It really caught me unawares, and I was honestly shocked how this group took over the midwest. Luckily, Madge did not die in vain.
