From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. Uuugghhhhhh!!!
Revisado: 11-08-24
This was very frustrating to listen and get into. I started out really enjoying McFadden's stories. I ate them up! But THIS one! I felt like I dragging a yacht through shallow water to get to a deeper level and enjoy the ride. I am not recommending this one. The story line and characters were slow to develop and the plot seemed to be in another galaxy for all the time it took to unfold! I was truly disappointed in all areas of this novel. I'm really hoping the next one, (NOT the Boyfriend!), is better.

A GOOD story that's HARD to listen to
Revisado: 06-04-24
I thoroughly enjoy David Baldacci's books. This one did not disappoint. But OOOWEE!! The language and the mentality of the characters had me shouting at their fictitious faces, cringing at their words and bemoaning their circumstances. The story line and plot kept me intrigued. This was a page turner without the pages!

Great Story
Revisado: 03-15-24
I really enjoyed this novel. The reader and story were great. It moved a good pace and wasn't predictable as some mystery novels could be. I will definitely check out more from this author.

Not Bad
Revisado: 02-11-24
This won't be my favorite but it wasn't too bad. While the manipulation of the male lead was pretty disgusting and enraging, the teen whining was really annoying.

I gasp as my body curls toward Brennus like a flower to the sun, for the pleasure of it. He holds me close to him. His nose grazes the length of my neck. He breathes me in. I feel the roar and rush of my heartbeat. I'm his toy; his energy streams into me. He winds the invisible key in my back, and the euphoria ratchets and coils inside of me.

A hard listen
Revisado: 01-13-24
Ooookaaay! Well I finished the series. This book was HARD to finish. The story and the performance annoyed me much more than in the other books. I went through a series of internal reactions: 🙄😖🥱😩🤯😲😵💫😬😮💨😮💨🙄🙄🤨😑😏😒🤔🤔😊😫🤢🤢🥱😤🙄🙄😮💨😮💨😠😲😠🤨😐😑 and it goes on. I don't know what it was about this one but it was rather cheesy and very predictable. The whole series isn't this bad. There are some interesting and thought provoking parts to the stories and I do like the narrator for most of them. I'm not sure I'd recommend them though.

Historia
Evie hangs her head in sorrow for just a moment when she knows she is truly alone. She feels like she's going to her execution, just as he had said. Then she moves forward again. She hops a fence of fieldstone and crosses a field dotted with Queen Anne's lace. Goose bumps rise on her arms as she passes the cluster of windmills that she's seen in a dream. The scent is sweet in the field though, not the scent of heat, like it had been when it was forced upon her in visions.

Frustrating but Compelling
Revisado: 01-04-24
I like Evie, the main character, but she is truly frustrating!! You really want to shake her and lock in a room somewhere. Her love for her "people " is great, but the impulsive and, often stupid, decisions she makes to try and protect them is infuriating!
I'm far enough in to just finish the series so there's no turning back, but geez!

Historia
Soon-to-be college freshman Evie Claremont had hoped that once she'd arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that she'd been having would go away. It hasn't. She may be an inexperienced 17-year-old, but she's grounded... sane. She looks for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he's near, she feels an attraction to him - a magnetic kind of force pulling her toward him.

Decent Plot Twists
Revisado: 12-25-23
I stumbled upon this book because I'd listen to one read by Zeller and liked it amd her.
The story line wasn't too bad, but I agree with some reviewers in that parts were hard to accept because the situation was extreme, bizarre and questionable at least. Yet the characters acted as if it wasn't so crazy. Like, who react so (relatively) calmly to some stranger coming up to them and telling them they can't be at that school and to leave? On their 2nd day on campus??!!
There were so many situations that should have gone differently. Nevertheless, I'm going to listen to book 2 and see how it is. If it's just as book 1 I'm likely to leave it there and not finish the series.
And yes, it does have a heavy Twilight feel to it as one review stated.
BUT as the title states, there were some good twists and surprises that I really enjoyed!
