A Disappointing Listen
Revisado: 03-18-24
I’ve read this one several times and it’s a favorite. I wasn’t going to buy the audio version after listening to the sample because the narrator just doesn’t bring much to the table here. But it went on sale and I figured maybe he’ll grow on me. Sadly I don’t see that happening. He seems more concerned with diction than anything else and he turns Niran into a cartoon villain, which is entirely unfair. He doesn’t have a lot of range for distinct characters either. Another disappointment. Maybe stick to the book for this one, yeah?

Historia
Caleb Masterson is, by all accounts, a successful adult. He graduated college, found a job he loves, and has a place to call home. Unfortunately, he knows what he desires in a relationship is considered too “high-maintenance” for most men and he has decided to not even bother looking. He’s happy with his decision until a sexy man with salt-and-pepper hair limps into his physical therapy office and turns his world upside down. Careful attention to detail and a need to be in control have helped Travis Barton become the owner of a successful construction company.

A little disappointing
Revisado: 01-07-21
I LOVE this story! When I found it on audio, I didn't even think, I just got it. I've read it a couple of times and was so looking forward to listening while I work my boring day job. And, therefore, I was VERY disappointed at the narration. It honestly sounds like the narrator is running a documentary lecture series. Virtually no intonation, and the Patient Coordinator's voice in the first chapter changes 3 times in less than 2 minutes. SMH.....I probably won't be listening to this one again. Although it's a definite re-read as the story is just so good. Unless you 're already a fan of this narrator, I'd suggest skipping the purchase of this one.

Historia
Founded over 400 years ago, Sanctus Infinitus Redemptio is a private and very elite society, where dominance and submission are revered. Steeped in tradition and excellence, every dominant, every submissive, and their pairing are selected with great care. When Hunter Vargo is brought into the Sanctus, his need for strict dominance sees him paired with the wrong master. But only a short time later, mistreated and his trust broken, he’s recalled, his collar removed. The grand master knows it will take a special kind of dominant to restore the sub’s faith and trust.

Must Listen for Walker fans
Revisado: 05-31-20
The story itself is based around a committed couple who is "asked" to take on a third. Of course, that only seems weird until you factor in the setting - a strong, supportive D/s community with rigid (yet loving) laws where polyamorous relationships are the norm. The addition of Hunter to their household (with an order for no sexual contact) for a one week trial - possibly to become permanent - sets Zig's comfortable world spinning for a bit. The emotional connection Zig and Levin feel for Hunter is the one thing Zig can't prepare for and it nearly has disastrous consequences. But the 3 men each grow and learn so much from each other in just 6 days that it takes your breath away. The world, setting and characters are all so well-developed that it's easy to fall into it. I never felt lost or confused and didn't want to stop reading.
And reading this book was one thing, but listening to Nick narrate it? A totally new experience. Even though I had the gist of it before I started listening (it was actually several months between reading and listening), Nick's narration engaged me to the point I listened to the entire book in one sitting. I normally only listen to audiobooks while working or driving. Not this one! I continued listening until it was done. Nick brings so much to Zig, Levin and Hunter that I felt as though I was in their world, not just hearing about them, but there with them.

Historia
After being dumped by his long-term boyfriend for being overweight, Henry Beckett decides to make some drastic changes. In a vain attempt at getting his boyfriend back, Henry does the most absurdly frightening thing he can think of. He joins a gym. Reed Henske is a personal trainer who isn't sure he'll ever be ready to date again. He's sick of guys who are only interested in the perfect body image, never seeing him for who he really is. As Reed tortures Henry with things like diet and exercise, Henry enamors Reed with recipes and laughter.

Hilarious and Heartwarming
Revisado: 02-24-20
We all have epiphanies in our lives. Sometimes they come to us seemingly out of the blue, but sometimes they're thrust down our throats in an almost brutal way. This is Henry's experience. It's not pleasant, to say the least, but he meets the challenge with laugh out loud sarcasm and dogged determination. And a lot of support from Reed.
I've come to expect excellence from Ms Walker's writing and I wasn't disappointed in the least. The characters are as real as your next door neighbors (or your family), the world building is complete and believable, and the emotions are all front and center. You'll laugh, probably cry a bit and definitely gasp for breath as you tag along with Henry and Reed while Henry picks himself up and makes some much needed changes.
Joel's performance is spot on, as well. Voices are clearly distinguishable and emotions are vocalized throughout, making it a joy to listen to him.
Pick this one up and spend a few hours with Henry and Reed. You'll laugh, you'll gasp and mostly, I think you'll be encouraged on your own life journey.

Definite Re-listen
Revisado: 02-20-20
Basic friends-to-lovers trope with a bit of magic thrown in to help push things along. The story is well-paced with believable MC's and a cohesive plot. The emotion is tangible and real with a bit of angst, but not so much that you're wrecked. And, of course, there's the HEA.
Greg Tremblay, as always, is phenomenal! He brings both characters to life with easily distinguishable voices, and an obvious investment in their emotions. I may be biased, but I could listen to him all day and never tire of it.
If you need to while away a couple of hours with a good listen, you can't go wrong with this one.

Rewarding read
Revisado: 10-20-19
The sequel to Silent Strength, this was even better than the first one! Eric and Marcus’ relationship fully matures and Marcus proves to be exactly the Daddy Eric needs.
Kenneth’s narration was consistent with the previous book and, again, distinctive voices so I was never lost. In fact, imho, his performance here was better than the first book!
Give this one a listen. You won’t be disappointed.

Eric knows what he needs...he just doesn't think anyone else will want it, too. He's finally reached his breaking point. There's only so many times he can put himself out there and get shot down. After a disastrous first date at a BDSM club, Eric is ready to walk away and push his desires to the furthest reaches of his mind - but then up walks Marcus. But just because the sexy older man is looking for a submissive doesn't mean he's looking to be someone's daddy.

Beautiful Beginning
Revisado: 10-17-19
Marcus has been waiting years for his perfect boy. Eric has been hoping for his perfect Daddy for nearly as long. When Eric finally finds the courage to take those tentative first steps, his Daddy is waiting for him at Bound and Controlled. But living with the fear of discovery his whole life, Eric's steps are slow indeed, Daddy Marcus has the patience to encourage - and push - the quietly strong boy he's drawn to nearly upon sight. This is the beginning of their journey.
And while no narrator ever reads to me the way I read in my own head, Kenneth Obi exceeded my expectations in this telling. He uses distinct voices that make it easy to distinguish between characters and narrative. I never "got lost" when listening. Marcus' voice, while sounding more mature, is both compassionate and commanding. Eric's voice is very obviously younger, but Kenneth never makes him sound like a child. The tone and pacing are consistent and added an extra level of enjoyment to this book. I can't wait to hear the rest of Marcus and Eric's journey!

Historia
There's nothing like being blackmailed by a dead man to really bring a group of cons together. And what a group we are: a hacker, a thief, a con artist, a thug, and a Federal agent with an ax to grind. The deal is simple: We do the jobs, and Charlie's lawyer wipes the slate clean for each of us, one at a time. Since job number one calls for some muscle, it looks like I'm up first.

Best story ever!
Revisado: 05-26-19
Imagine a gay version of the tv show Leverage. That’s what this is.
Four con artists and a Federal agent, blackmailed into cooperating from beyond the grave, come together to right wrongs. Their methods aren’t necessarily legal but they do get the job done. Along the way, they surprise themselves by developing a friendship of sorts, falling in love and illustrating that sometimes the only way to get justice is by thinking outside the box. Their journey is made more enjoyable with snarky banter accompanied by a healthy dose of demon confrontation and hopeful resolution.
The narration was really on point. Steele and Thom bring these men to life with easily differentiated voices and smooth flowing dialogue. Wonderful listen and I highly recommend!

Narration put me off
Revisado: 11-05-18
Cute first time story; funny and heartwarming. Unfortunately the narrator reads too quickly and doesn’t seem to take the book seriously. Stopped listening half way through and I’m really disappointed. Guess I’ll have to re-read it with my own voice in my head.
