It's a hit with my toddler!

The whole series is great. This title is my toddler's favorite though. If your little likes books with animal facts then this is for them.

I finally don't feel alone

Has your toddler made you rethink your faith? My toddler has recently gotten into dinosaurs and I can't pretend anymore that I believe in young earth creationism (that really affects my biblical literalism roots). So what does that do to my belief in the Bible and more importantly God? Pete's faith journey asks the question, what if we let science inform our theological journey vs the other way around. It may seem heretical to many of you, but how he paints the picture of a creative god, responsible for the cosmos and this world, so much of which we don't understand, brings reverence back to God and allows us to live in the grand mystery of God's love.

Short summaries do not make it child friendly

These are short summaries of many bible stories. Each summary has one to two questions you can answer.

Was the author thinking short stories would keep a child's attention better? Probably. The same goes for the questions, if they add a question it will be engaging right? Wrong.

I don't think this author is familiar about how children learn or what is appropriate content for young ears.

People think because they are stories from the Bible that it will all be age appropriate for children. That isn't true!

The Bible is gory, has lots of lying, cheating, stealing, mass murder and even a world wide genocide endorsed by God (Noah's Ark is not a children's story just because it has animals in it. It is an awful story of God messing up so badly he has to kill all his creation. And yes, God messed up. He is all knowing, he knew that giving his creatures free will, or determining their actions from the foundation of the world [doesnt matter if you come at it from a Arminianist or Calvinist slant] would turn be a terrible failure).

The Bible should be rated M and that's why we need quality children's adaptations.

Children bible stories should help little ones understand God's character and that God is worthy to be trusted. None of these stories or questions are written to point that out.

Really the only good thing about this is the narrator. He does an excellent job.

Best story commentary on the life of Christ

This is a great commentary on the life of Christ in story format. Great insights. I also really enjoy the narrators voice. Definitely will get another book that she narrates.

Incorrect....about a lot.

As an engineer I love going down rabbit holes like this. I've been interested in making some improvements to my survival plan for some time and thought this would be worth a listen.

It wasn't. Not at all. I'm returning after only an hour and half in.

This guy clearly has a hard agenda he's pushing and, unfortunately, has a LOT of his facts wrong. From everything from gun related incidents to high altitude nuclear test results (as it relates to EMP risk) to the "warning" time we'd get from a solar flare.

I have no doubt that making plans to ensure your survival is important. Don't get me wrong there. However this type of fear-mongering and miss-information peddling is literally what he pokes fun at in the very beginning. Talk about pot calling the kettle black here.

The narration is fine, the pace is fine, and many of the concepts are still legitimate. However it's not hard to see how a large population can easily be misled into misinformation by a "legitimate" source in cases like these. I can thank my decade of engineering experience in electrical and mechanical fields (along with a strong education) for triggering my "bs meter". I wish there was a rating for "chill out man and quit peddling this misinformation".

If you love stories of faith...

I wasn't expecting this story, but I'm so glad I got it. I love the It's Different Everyday page-a-day calendar. So I thought this would be a fun read. Brook did not disappoint. She has a lovely personality and a really great cozy writing style.

Coming from a conservative religious background I could really resonate with her even though my upbringing was quite different.

This is an easy listen , perfect for a person who grew up in the the late 90-early 2000s, and wants bits of thought provoking moments.

Great book and great narrators!

A very practical marriage book for those who are about to be married or who want to continue to strengthen their marriage. Really enjoyed all the Practical stories and metaphors they apply to each concept.

McAdams makes a wonderful Anne Shirley

I didn't know if anyone could hold a candle to Megan Follows portrayal of Anne Shirley. but Rachel McAdams not only makes a wonderful Anne Girl but also does a beautiful interpretation of this classic.

A classic that I can listen to over and over again

Lots of famous people try to write books and they are so-so. You know why? Because they aren't writers. Tina Fey is a professional writer and a decent enough actress that she does a great job narrating her own book. If you like comedy by way of SNL then you'll enjoy this book.

Adult version of Horrible Histories

When I was in elementary school there was this book series called "Horrible Histories" and they had books on the Groovey Greeks, Rotten Romans and basically all the world empires. They used comedy in telling the myths and history and it was super fun to read.

This, is that series grown up. I loved the riffing between Merrill and Megan before and after the essays and I enjoyed the format of the book. It is a really fun listening experience.

The reason behind 4/5 is that you can listen to this with young listeners . Too much cursing and political jokes that'll go over their head. I do wish that they'd put out a version suitable for junior high age ladies because the content is great and want everyone to understand how history and culture all around the world have affected women.
