Historia
Paris, 1940 German tanks rumble through the streets of Paris, forcing frightened citizens to flee. But not everyone has the luxury to leave. Camille Lacroix, a chambermaid at the world-famous Hôtel Ritz, must stay to support her family back home in Brittany. Desperate to earn money, Camille also acts as a lady’s maid for longtime guest Vivian Miller, a glamorous American widow—and a Nazi sympathizer. Despite her distrust of the woman, Camille turns to Vivian when her friend Rachel Berman needs help getting out of Paris. It’s then that Camille discovers that Vivian is not what she seems.

Service & Sacrifice
Revisado: 05-04-25
Great courage in small acts. Explores so much of the human spirit, and has moments where you wonder about parallels in modern life and difficult choices. The 3 main women characters are each strong, and show the precarious balancing act that some needed to perform while living in Nazi occupied Paris trying to survive, and maybe, find a small way to do good in the midst of so much evil.

Historia
A POWERFUL ANCIENT RELIC IN AN UNEXPECTED PLACE Throughout the course of human warfare, no weapon has been as feared, as deadly, as the Ark of the Covenant. Legend claims that this mysterious, supernatural force, first carried into battle by the ancient Israelites, was so powerful that the Ark could lay waste to entire armies, entire cities in moments—thousands of years before the advent of nuclear bombs. So, when an ancient order of killers reemerges from the shadows after centuries of hiding—convinced that other secret societies took the Ark from Jerusalem to hide it in early America...

The plot was intriguing!
Revisado: 03-25-25
The AI narrator made so many mistakes. It can’t distinguish nuances based on context.
The story itself was great. The action and adventure is always wonderful in these books.

It was the perfect blend of mystery and romance. The basis in history with winks to Austen throughout the book was very satisfying.

The characters were so likable and you rooted for them to get together.
Revisado: 12-26-24
Julia Quinn’s attention to detail to astounding. No woman should want to live in the Victorian Time Period for it has such restrictions for women, and yet Quinn makes you long to live there between the pages of her books. If Jane Austen were alive, I think she would give Quinn accolades for her writing. I can’t get enough!

Women of Courage
Revisado: 12-08-24
The courage of these women when they were called to factories during WWII is palpable in this novel. They were opposing societal norms. Each woman’s plight is steeped in the realities of the time period. So many woven pieces to this novel, but the tapestry of the novzAel is beautiful. It is about being human, the joys, fears, and the world that j x the indomitable human spirit. Living is more than the act of just not dying. It is about friendship, love, and being yourself.

Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except...she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her... and more. Did he think she was mad?

Magnitude is magnificent!
Revisado: 12-21-22
The plot is so intriguing, multi-leveled, and scientifically-based that you are moving seamlessly between worlds and dimensions. It’s a thrilling ride with some light matter and some dark, along with some delightful humor interspersed for comic relief. I am always rooting for our heroes and have fallen in love with them all at the same time.
It’s sci-if that you can sink your teeth into, meaning that the science holds up, and for any Arthur C. Clarke fans out there, you know that if the science isn’t solid, you just close the book, so to speak! Well done R.C. Bray! Now, I just ordered Fortitude, so it’s back into the fray!
