Bad narration but pretty good story
Revisado: 05-07-25
Ive avoided it for a long time, thinking i wouldn't like it, but i finally broke down and tried listening to a book that was virtually narrated. I should have listened to my own advice on this.
there a was no inflection, which I could get past, but there was a lot of mispronounciation, (sp?), to the point I had to rewind and listen a couple of times to understand what she was saying. I will just stick to human narrators in the future. other than that the story was good and enjoyed listening to it. this was my first book by this author and I will listen to another in the future...granted there's a human doing the narrating lol.

very hard to follow
Revisado: 05-05-25
there were a lot of narrators but then again, there were a bunch of stories. . all of the narrators did a great job of reading their chapters so that was a plus.
I feel like this book was very difficult to follow however if you stick with it, it does finally come together at the end... the style just wasn't for me personally, but if you like that then this would be a great read!

An ending you'll never see coming
Revisado: 04-05-25
my only dislike really is the narrator. she just sounds like a schoolgirl to me, and at first it's hard to get past, but once you do, you can really get into the storyline. great characters, riveting storyline that keeps you interested through the entire book. you get to the end and think hey, this was a pretty good book, I'll let my reading friends know about it, and then ...BAM!!! A twist you never would've thought was coming! so if this book hadn't made you happy about your choice of books before this part, I'm pretty sure that will! Happy Reading yall!!

Good Storyline, Bad Narration
Revisado: 11-06-24
this story was great, but I'm not sure what they were thinking when they chose the male narrator. the main male character was a man that had been to the war in Afghanistan and back, leading you to think of a "man's man" character. however, they have him the voice of a pre-pubescent 12 year old boy, that cracked every 3 to 5 words. Awful! I realize he had PTSD but did that have to make his voice revert to childhood??
if you can get around listening to that voice, (and yes, I did finish the book), it's a great storyline. just clench your teeth, and listen on! it's better than AI!!

Historia
The Girl of Sugar Beach is the most watched documentary in television history - a riveting, true-life mystery that unfolds over 12 weeks and centers on a fascinating question: Did Grace Sebold murder her boyfriend, Julian, while on a Spring Break vacation, or is she a victim of circumstance and poor police work? Grace has spent the last 10 years in a St. Lucian prison, and reaches out to filmmaker Sidney Ryan in a last, desperate attempt to prove her innocence. As Sidney begins researching, she uncovers issues that were all overlooked during the original investigation.

great overall book, and the narrator was pleasant to listen to
Revisado: 04-08-24
This was a new author for me suggested by audible according to my other listens. I have to say, I loved it. Great suspense, kept me on my toes guessing who done it. Also liked the narrator, she was easy to listen to, didn't hear her swallowing or making any other strange noise like I have with others lol

very slow to get into, not normal for Lisa
Revisado: 07-13-22
normally I love Lisa's books, but I had a very hard time staying involved in this one. it was very slow in the beginning, but honestly stayed that way until the very end. also wasn't crazy about the narrator's voice but could have overlooked that if the book could have been more captivating. I was very surprised as normally get books keto new in the edge of my seat so I won't be giving up on her by any means. hopefully the next one I pick will be more like her.

surprised this was not a good as most of her books
Revisado: 01-27-22
for the most part the story was ok. but it was slow getting going, and the twist ending came from way out in left field that really had nothing to do with the entire story. so I was surprised Lids would do that. I normally love her books but was pretty disappointed with this one. and whoever narrated this story did an awful job with the character "Bob".... the voice for him was soooo nasally, I hated his character had anything to say! sounded like she was trying to fake someone having a cold or something...awful! definitely don't recommend her using that voice again, meaning for that character lol. hate giving Lisa such a low rating but I just didn't think this one deserved much better. hopefully the next one is better!
