Historia
Over the past several years, Dr. Becky Kennedy—known to her followers as “Dr. Becky”—has been sparking a parenting revolution. Millions of parents, tired of following advice that either doesn’t work or simply doesn’t feel good, have embraced Dr. Becky’s empowering and effective approach, a model that prioritizes connecting with our kids over correcting them. Parents have long been sold a model of childrearing that simply doesn’t work. From reward charts to time outs, many popular parenting approaches are based on shaping behavior, not raising humans.

Wow. This audiobook is absolutely phenomenal. Dr. Becky has written this book so well with relevant topics, very well outlined chapters, and most importantly real-life examples with real-life strategies that you can use within minutes of putting the book down. I have actually noticed a huge difference in the behavior and responses of my children after beginning to implement her descriptive strategies and scripts. Dr. Becky is truly a pioneer in her work and is leading the way in working with us parents on how to manage childhood and make a very positive, happy, and fun environment in our homes. She does all this while keeping the focus on nurturing the child-parent relationship and establishing building blocks for our kids to create stable foundations as they grow into young adults. I highly recommend stopping everything else and reading this book now if you're looking for a guide to raising awesome kids!

Travels through decades while capturing moments
Revisado: 09-11-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Ministry of Utmost Happiness to be better than the print version?
I absolutely loved the audible version. Firstly, the author herself did the narration so I felt that the book was exactly as she wanted us to hear it. Arundhati's voice is at once haunting and deep. I think the audible version actually captures the full essence of the story and characters because she tells it as she would have wanted us to read it...hear it. Loved this audible version.
What other book might you compare The Ministry of Utmost Happiness to and why?
A Fine Balance - by Rohinton Mistry. Because of the deep connections between the characters and the web of their lives.
Which scene was your favorite?
Jahan Aara taking her baby to SARMAD to pray to learn how to love her own baby.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Twisting web of lives
Any additional comments?
Amazing book, I highly, highly recommend it!

A Life Unfolds! Amazing Narration - MUST LISTEN!
Revisado: 03-14-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book is a MUST LISTEN! The story in itself is simply unbelievable...a young child gets lost on a train in India and it's about how the turn of events takes his life across India and onwards. The story is written and narrated beautifully, the voice of the narrator is perfect. I would highly recommend this story because it's true and speaks of the strength, endurance and will of a young 4 year old child as he gets lost, realizes it and then pushes past obstacles through instinct and saves his life many times. This book has reminded me about how instinct and will is present in all of us from a young age and sometimes we ignore it as adults. Saroo Brierley - I m so glad you shared your story - it's left a deep impact on my life and has encouraged me to look into reaching out to organizations in India who work with children.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Long Way Home?
For me the most memorable moment is when Saroo is clicking on google earth and discovers the water tank, then follows a few more landmarks of his memory. Also, the moment when he walks the streets of his childhood and then finds himself in front of his front door and when he comes face to face with his mother.
What about Vikas Adam’s performance did you like?
I absolutely loved this narrator. I actually thought it was the author Saroo himself who narrated the book because of the care and attention to the way it was narrated. The narrator takes you right to each piece of the puzzle as Saroo shares his childhood experiences, goes to the train station and boards a train which takes him away from his home for a long time. Vikas Adam has eloquently narrated the story with emotion and tone. This is a must listen!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, this book made me cry. The sheer thought of a child being alone, lost and helpless in this way at such a young age was much to bear. It made me think to stop and be aware of my surroundings at all times just in case I've passed by a child who may need help. Everybody should read this book to remind ourselves that we are all human and need to behave like human beings towards each other. Saroo Brierley - thank you for sharing your story.
Any additional comments?
Saroo Brierley your story has left a deep impact. Thank you for sharing this extremely life story of yours which at times was happy, at times was sad but overall I think has had a wonderful journey to share. It has taught me so much about human life and about how we need to reach out.

Where does The Secret History of the Mongol Queens rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I loved listening to this title on Audible and I look forward to more books by Jack Weatherford. The book is very well researched and is depicted in a great timeline fashion so you can really follow along and it all makes sense. I also love how the author really adds in historical info from other regions to fill in the story of the daughters of Genghis Khan - I learned so much about world history while listening to this and also really felt amazed at the history of the women of the empire. Amazing!
Which character – as performed by Robertson Dean – was your favorite?
Queen Monduhai
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The powerful queens rebuilding the empire.
