I have appreciated that these books are clean. They are good reads that want to keep you listening. I look forward to more in the future.

Interesting Teo
Revisado: 11-26-24
I liked the storyline about an underdog, who is finding that he has power. I like that it doesn’t have language and sex in it. I actually didn’t mind the virtual voice that other reviews complained about. I have listened to other narrators that are worse. I am just thankful it is on audible! I look forward to listening to the second book.

Rezkin is an elite warrior who aims to restore order in Ashai after Caydean's attack on the King's Tournament transformed former allies and trading partners into enemies. With no army and only a ragtag group of refugees, Rezkin must wrest control of the kingdom from the mad and powerful usurper, who seems bent on destruction, and this may not be the biggest challenge. If he fails, the kingdom will be ripped apart, and Rezkin will have violated Rule 1 - to protect and honor his friends.

Meh. Loved the first 2, wanted to love this one
Revisado: 11-18-24
I really enjoyed the storyline of a trained assassin thrown into the world to figure out his purpose. I enjoyed that he protected the innocent and was a strong, unbeatable character. Really enjoyed the interactions with the friends and a mission to take on evil and protect good. Then… introduce all the new magical elements and angry friends. I got tired of the accusations and fights about Rez. I really got tired of Frisha. I’d be ok if she was killed off from the story. What a whiner. She had it right when she defended Rez to Tam, but the she didn’t take her own medicine. I can tell where this is going. *** SPOILER** The book ending with Rez saying he doesn’t belong. He’s probably going to become a lone wolf who has alienated all his friends or some otherly world character that is removed. Not my thing. Because it is such a time commitment and I have my doubts, i went ahead and read reviews of the upcoming books to either validate or refute my concern. My concerns were validated. Looks like the story takes it in a direction that makes him a lone wolf alienated from his friends. He dies I think and then is resurrected.? Anyway, was hoping it would carry out and he would win the kingdom, take the throne and save the world. :) Oh well. First 2 were good. I just wish I didn’t have to slog through the last 2 stories to understand his roots.

Historia
A thousand years ago the Heart of the World was shattered, its fragments scattered across the lands. In the chaos that followed, martial orders arose to gather these shards, for it was found that great powers were granted when these pieces were bonded to the flesh of the chosen. These are the Sharded Few, warriors imbued with the divine energies that once coursed through the Heart, and driven to absorb enough fragments to claim godhood.

The writing is pretty good, not great. The story line is interesting. I appreciate that it is clean! The narrator is not very good. Stilted. No emotion. Possibly that made the story itself more difficult. I had to work to finish it.

Terrible.
Revisado: 02-05-24
I love other Sanderson books. This one. Terrible. Just terrible. He’s gone political. Spensa is annoying. She is angry most of the time. Hostile, name calling, disrespectful of authority. She’d get kicked out of the real military for her actions towards leadership. This book spent entirely too much time talking about her emotions. I do not understand why the reviews are so high except people are duped and can’t see beyond the name Sanderson. I read other YA and this one lacked depth. Seems like he simply wants to communicate about his agenda and influence the world by writing into his fiction modern agenda. That’s fine, he can choose that. But me personally, I don’t like the direction this series is going and I dont like the main character.

Loved this series. I’ve read all of Rosenberg fiction and this set was my last. There are moments of lots of action and then lots of political dialogue. Both are fascinating. I appreciate Rosenberg giving a visual picture of what is to come.

Good information but don’t the way she tells the story
Revisado: 08-17-21
The information is good and I have learned from it, yet I actually don’t like to hear her tell stories. I don’t like the voices she uses. She lost me at the miner story. Didn’t feel like she captured the sorrow behind it. Laughed too much and made it a comedy. Hmm.
