Historia
For the members of SEAL Team Six, it was a rare mission ordered by the president, monitored in real time from the Situation Room. Houthi rebels in Yemen had captured an American journalist and a member of the Saudi royal family. Their executions were scheduled for Easter Sunday. The SEAL team were to break them out. But when the mission results in spectacular failure, the finger-pointing goes all the way to the top. Paige Chambers, a determined young lawyer, has a very personal reason for wanting to know the answer.

Historia
Klaus Kenneth is an Orthodox Christian and spiritual child of Elder Sophrony of Essex. He was born into extremely unfortunate circumstances at the end of World War II: his father abandoned his family not long after they settled in their new home, his mother rejected him, and he was abused, mentally and physically, by a priest who promised to "educate" him. As Klaus sought to escape the hell of being unloved, he began to look for a way out of his misery, which took him on a journey through the manifold pleasures and promises of "this world": rock music, sex, drugs, the Occult, Transcendental...

Using Real People Matters
Revisado: 05-28-24
First, let’s be clear. The story itself was WONDERFUL! No question. That is why I’ve ordered a copy of the book.
That said, if using AI means having “dash” pronounced each time there should’ve been a dash symbol, and pronouncing the number of each and every section break (271 times to be exact) in the middle of the story, then I strongly recommend you reconsider. The pronouncing of the numbers was quite frustrating. It disturbed the flow of what could’ve been an otherwise decent reading.
I will be avoiding any AI read books for awhile.

Historia
In virtually every way that can be measured, Gen Z’s mental health is worse than that of previous generations. Youth suicide rates are climbing, antidepressant prescriptions for children are common, and the proliferation of mental health diagnoses has not helped the staggering number of kids who are lonely, lost, sad and fearful of growing up. What’s gone wrong with America’s youth? In Bad Therapy, bestselling investigative journalist Abigail Shrier argues that the problem isn’t the kids—it’s the mental health experts.

An ABSOLUTE MUST!
Revisado: 03-18-24
Most of us, especially us parents of small children, have instinctively suspected a lot of what is contained in this book. However, the author has now both confirmed and armed us with the information needed for us to do what is arguably BETTER for our children.
Yes, her writing will force us out of our comfort zone, but the benefits for our children will likely be priceless. I HIGHLY recommend this one.

Since the advent of the internet, it has become increasingly obvious that our society suffers from a pornography problem—and Orthodox Christians are no exception. While many practical resources are available to help those who struggle with pornography use, these fail to address the problem at its deeper, spiritual root.

I didn’t know what to expect going in with this book. I bought it after listening to the author’s interview on the Ancient Faith Today podcast, that was obviously very good. However, as good as the interview was, I was soon to be shocked at how the interview paled in comparison.
While the title rightfully includes the word “pornographic” in its title, a word that tends to be louder than the words surrounding it, the focus of the book is what I consider a master class in what is iconography.
Let me state immediately that I didn’t think I understood the many dimensions of iconography; however, this book helped me to not only confirm how right I was in my lack of understanding, but it was like the author gently took me by the hand and showed me that there was far more to it than I had ever imagined. And what a wonderful revelation it’s been for me.
It goes with saying that I recommend this book. I believe it’s helpful in more ways than can be listed here. I will say that if you’re considering purchasing it, even in the slightest, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It’s one I plan on reading and gifting to folks again and again.

Historia
The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ are central events in our salvation. Yet few Christians have a good grasp of the first-century historical and religious context in which the crucifixion took place, nor of its true significance for the people of that time - and hence for our time as well. Biblical scholar and attorney Dr. Jeannie Constantinou puts modern listeners in the center of the events of Christ's Passion, bringing the best of modern scholarship to bear while keeping her interpretation faithful in every particular to the Orthodox tradition.

EXCELLENT!
Revisado: 04-13-23
Dr. Constantinou continues to show us why she is such a wonderful source that people across the globe have come to trust in matters regarding the Christian faith.
To list all of the reasons why this book is such a substantial work would take more words than most would want to read. Suffice it to say, this is a book I have now listened to for the second year in a row (a Pascha/Easter tradition I’m very glad to have started), and I also own a digital copy for highlighting and sharing quotes. It is a book I plan on gifting to folks I’ve been blessed to sponsor into the Holy Orthodox Church, and I highly recommend it to all for reading anytime of the year.

I listened to Ms. Stamper’s interview on Ancient Today on Ancient Faith Radio, and immediately bought all three books for the family (most especially my 14 and 11 year-old daughters). Testing the waters for myself, I’m very glad to say this work has not disappointed.
I look forward to them reading and our discussing this one. I’m hoping the next one will be just as good.
KUDOS to Deborah Grausman! She brought life to this for me. Excellent job!!!

Historia
News is to the mind as sugar is to the body. In 2013 Rolf Dobelli stood in front of a room full of journalists and proclaimed that he did not read the news. It caused a riot. Now he finally sets down his philosophy in detail. And he practices what he preaches: he hasn't read the news for a decade. Stop Reading the News is Dobelli's manifesto about the dangers of the most toxic form of information - news. He shows the damage it does to our concentration and well-being and how a misplaced sense of duty can misdirect our behaviour.

Minus the Darwinian apologetical inserts, it was a very informative book. Lots of good food for thought.
