Historia
In Shepherds for Sale, Megan Basham of the Daily Wire documents how progressive powerbrokers—from George Soros, to the founder of eBay, to former members of the Obama administration—set out to change the American church. Their goal: to co-opt evangelicals for political purposes.

Historia
Who Drew You? Were you drawn by the Father to His Son, as reflected in the historical context of John 6:44? “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.” Or, were you drawn by Jesus to Himself after He was raised up, as reflected in the context recorded for us in John 12:32? ”And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” Due to relatively modern debates over man-made westernized theological constructs, the two drawings recorded for us above are often conflated to be one and the same, but does that ...

Great understanding of Jesus’ earthly ministry
Revisado: 08-22-24
All would agree that context is key to understanding a passage or even an entire book. Flowers brings context to John and the other Gospels surrounding first century Israel and Jesus’ earthly ministry as opposed to his ministry after he was “lifted up.” I feel like many commentators and pastors ignore the fact that when Jesus started his earthly ministry there were Jewish believers in God and Jews who did not believe in God. If you don’t take that fact into account, then I think you can’t understand many of the things Jesus said. Flowers does a great job of including this fact in his explanation of passages in John’s Gospel.

Historia
Romans chapter 9 has become a dividing point between competing theologies for years. Calvinistic authors ground much of their interpretation of the Bible and understanding of God's nature and character from this particular chapter. Christians that are unaware of the theological traps they can fall into by blindly following Calvin's theological determinism can result in a distorted view of God's nature and character. The consequence of this is surely problematic when applying a predetermined view of God to the rest of the Bible that the Scriptures simply will not support. This has at times ...

An unexpected gem
Revisado: 08-22-24
I don’t know who Scott Mitchell is so I didn’t expect much from this book. However, the book was well written and clear. He clearly has a strong grasp of Scripture and presented his arguments thoughtfully. He also provided a clear and reasonable exposition of Romans 9.
There was a lot of build up before the actual exposition, but I also understand why he felt the need for the build up.

A good perspective on AI through the Christian lens
Revisado: 05-29-24
I thought he offered a unique perspective on artificial intelligence that I have not heard yet. And he combined it with the hope from Scripture. I particularly enjoyed his discussion on the concept of Homo Deus.
As usual, I always enjoy learning from this brilliant man.

Historia
Lee Strobel became convinced that God was outmoded. Today science is supports the conclusion that the universe was intelligently designed. Darwinism has faltered in the face of facts and hard reason. Science definitely gives faith a boost as new findings emerge about the complexity of our universe. Strobel re-examines the theories that once led him away from God. You'll encounter discoveries from cosmology, DNA research, and human consciousness that present evidence in The Case for a Creator.

The extraordinary career of George Catlett Marshall - America’s most distinguished soldier - statesman since George Washington - whose selfless leadership and moral character influenced the course of two world wars and helped define the American century. Set against the backdrop of five major conflicts - two world wars, Palestine, Korea, and the Cold War - Marshall's education in military, diplomatic, and political power, replete with their nuances and ambiguities, runs parallel with America's emergence as a global superpower.

Composed in four parts between 1883 and 1885, Thus Spoke Zarathustra is the most famous and influential work of German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. The work is a philosophical novel in which the character of Zarathustra, a religious prophet-like figure, delivers a series of lessons and sermons in a Biblical style that articulate the central ideas of Nietzsche's mature thought.

The rantings of a madman
Revisado: 09-22-22
The reader did a phenomenal job and the story was entertaining, but the mind of Nietzsche was mad. Not only was he mad (angry) at Judeo-Christianity, but they were mad, as in delusional and unintelligible, One will criticize my comment as me just not being a higher minded individual able to understand him. I won’t even feel the need to respond. If this is the alternative philosophy one chooses to believe, as opposed to the teachings of Christ, which Nietzsche repeated mocked, I’m good. Glad to have read it to understand the position, but what nonsense.

Useful
Revisado: 07-09-22
He shows, by category, a bunch of quotes from the ancient church fathers. I think this type of book might be better to have as an electronic resource or a paperback. He basically does all the legwork so anyone can know what the ANF thought about a given topic. Very useful.
