All would agree that context is key to understanding a passage or even an entire book. Flowers brings context to John and the other Gospels surrounding first century Israel and Jesus’ earthly ministry as opposed to his ministry after he was “lifted up.” I feel like many commentators and pastors ignore the fact that when Jesus started his earthly ministry there were Jewish believers in God and Jews who did not believe in God. If you don’t take that fact into account, then I think you can’t understand many of the things Jesus said. Flowers does a great job of including this fact in his explanation of passages in John’s Gospel.

I don’t know who Scott Mitchell is so I didn’t expect much from this book. However, the book was well written and clear. He clearly has a strong grasp of Scripture and presented his arguments thoughtfully. He also provided a clear and reasonable exposition of Romans 9.
There was a lot of build up before the actual exposition, but I also understand why he felt the need for the build up.

I thought he offered a unique perspective on artificial intelligence that I have not heard yet. And he combined it with the hope from Scripture. I particularly enjoyed his discussion on the concept of Homo Deus.
As usual, I always enjoy learning from this brilliant man.

Strengthened my faith. He is not the expert in all the fields discussed, but he interviews the experts. Very enlightening.

I learned a lot about Islam, and was inspired as a Christian. Nabeel’s story is useful for all Christians to hear. Praising God for his salvation and praying God uses his death to catapult his story to many more people.

Best early church writing I’ve read yet. Mainly because he explains scripture, and describes the worship of the early church. Priceless.

Author was a bit woke, but the story of Marshall was amazing. Probably won’t read this author again

The reader did a phenomenal job and the story was entertaining, but the mind of Nietzsche was mad. Not only was he mad (angry) at Judeo-Christianity, but they were mad, as in delusional and unintelligible, One will criticize my comment as me just not being a higher minded individual able to understand him. I won’t even feel the need to respond. If this is the alternative philosophy one chooses to believe, as opposed to the teachings of Christ, which Nietzsche repeated mocked, I’m good. Glad to have read it to understand the position, but what nonsense.

He shows, by category, a bunch of quotes from the ancient church fathers. I think this type of book might be better to have as an electronic resource or a paperback. He basically does all the legwork so anyone can know what the ANF thought about a given topic. Very useful.
