This book needed some content edits
Revisado: 04-21-25
My number one complaint is that this book moved too quickly through the storyline. No relationships were really built, they just popped into being. I felt nothing when characters died. That makes the deaths pointless. I will not be reading the next book.
Side note: these narrators were constantly whispering. Please speak at a normal volume. I felt like I was constantly straining to hear them, no matter my device’s volume.

Not overly excited.
Revisado: 03-26-25
This book was okay. I was not overly excited by this book.
It falls into the same realm as all of the other Romantasy books. Golden boy, the instant love interest. He is a bundle of red flags, but the FMC is in "love" with him. There is a dark, brooding man whom she is oddly drawn to. But she "hates" him and can't imagine being with him because he is "so evil." (Sound familiar yet?)
I knew the entire plot about 40% through. I will not be reading the next book. I do not understand the hype around this series.

Historia
It’s 2006. After a string of rejections from men who tell her they could never, ever, ever see her “that way,” awkward third-grade teacher Micaela Blei signs up for a mysterious course called “The Divine Feminine,” and feels like she might have found the key to the perfect life. Turns out if you’re an A student, you can get an A in anything–including men. Pretty soon she’s learning to "conjure" her desires with vision boards, flirtations, and even a daring jumbotron viewing party for her, ahem ... "divine center."

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Vali and her mother are undocumented, but at least Vali has a counterfeit chip—until it starts malfunctioning. Now on the run, Vali and her family are desperately trying to make it to California, a sanctuary state that is being walled off from the rest of the country.

This book is timely and needed!
Revisado: 03-06-25
I have so many emotions about this book. Firstly everyone needs to read this book. This book truly takes a look at the immigrant experience. This book is timely in the worst of ways. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum you need to read this book. The author perfectly encapsulates the empathy that we require as a nation. There are so many people here that deserve love and empathy. I think many times we get caught up in the political lines and forget that these people who are here are just that, people. I know many readers understand that books are political. This one tells a story of a young girl who struggles to protect her brother in a climate and not so distant country that only wants to destroy them. Please read this book.

Historia
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Pretentious
Revisado: 02-27-25
This book felt like the author sat down with a thesaurus before publishing it. There was absolutely no reason to use some of the word choice in this novel. Similarly, the narration choice was terrible because it didn’t even pronounce the word “macabre” correctly.

Messy
Revisado: 01-31-25
I think this book could’ve gone through a few more edits before being published. There are many moments in the book that don’t make very much sense. One of these being that the ship has an engine room when it’s completely powered by magic. Another issue is that they leave people in rooms or forget about them in situations.

Edwin St. Andrew is eighteen years old when he crosses the Atlantic by steamship, exiled from polite society following an ill-conceived diatribe at a dinner party. He enters the forest, spellbound by the beauty of the Canadian wilderness, and suddenly hears the notes of a violin echoing in an airship terminal—an experience that shocks him to his core.

I love her nonlinear stories. However, my brain is struggling to digest this story. I liked the idea, but it wasn’t as good as Station Eleven.
