Decent story, but…

I enjoy a good “ creature feature” story and can forgive/overlook a lot… however the virtual narration just sucks! It ruins the story with unnatural cadence, mispronunciations and poor timing. I will actively AVOID all future audio books with AI narration… such a waste of money and a disservice to the author’s efforts.

Fun premise

Good dialog, interesting storyline. For the love of all that is good… PLEASE do more homework on how animals behave, ( a large hawk “fighting” a mouse??? Really A mouse would go down in one gulp… It would also be nice if little research was done on WHERE a story is supposed to be taking place in. As an Alaskan, I can understand and ignore the mispronunciation of place names… but good grief… polar bears on the Kenai? (Key’- nigh)… there are no deer, lynx dont attack people, devil grass? stickery bushes? A single 10 minute phone call to almost anyone living up here could have given you the 411.

Not bad… with a decent twist

I love me a good Amazonian jungle/ dinosaur adventure! However, one can only suspend disbelief so much… what got me was the eating behavior of the giant boa. Please .. spend an afternoon watching a few nature documentaries… learn how snakes eat! Also.. I doubt they vocalize.. ( like cheesy shark movies when the sharks roar! ). Otherwise… entertaining story.

Interesting story line. LOVE the dialog and snarky sarcastic banter. There had better be a 3rd installment coming!!! There are lots of questions unanswered…

Much more than expected

Enjoying the guilty pleasure of “creature feature” escapist reading/ listening… I began this book thinking it just another retold story of life and death adventure of a foolish unprepared youth. And it was. However, it was SO much more. I thoroughly enjoyed the multi levels of adventure and self discovery this young man experienced. Very well written, with only a few annoying mistakes.. ( snakes are venomous NOT poisonous)…. But in the grand scheme of the story… a minor triviality.

What a ride!

Interesting plot and story development. I could tell the 3rd installment was written well after the first two. The characters became a bit more fleshed out and dialog smoother. I also loved the infusion of humor. I’m not typically a fan of “ bathroom humor”, but it was so spot on and laugh out loud funny. And who would expect a bad ass pre teen?? All in all, a fun ride.

Im very much enjoying Mattie’s journey in learning to trust. Cole and his eldest daughter also are developing.. The youngest, Sophie, seems like a very young 9 yr old. Her speech and behavior seems like that of a child years younger! Let the kid grow up! She has been through a lot already…she should be a wanting more independence. Just a thought.

Good story, but…

I enjoy Scott Sigler’s writing but am
NOT impressed with the “dramatized adaptation”of the audio book. The voice talent were all just fine, but various sound effects and background music was extremely distracting. Very cheesy!
