Historia
When itinerant cave diver James Tighe receives an invitation to billionaire Nathan Joyce's private island, he thinks it must be a mistake. But Tighe's unique skill set makes him a prime candidate for Joyce's high-risk venture to mine a near-Earth asteroid - with the goal of kick-starting an entire off-world economy. The potential rewards and personal risks are staggering, but the competition is fierce, and the stakes couldn't be higher. Isolated and pushed beyond their breaking points, Tighe and his fellow 21st-century adventurers must rely on each other to survive....

Great Story
Revisado: 11-01-23
Daniel Suarez weaves a great fictional story that leaves you hanging, waiting for the next piece. The imagination of possibilities of living in space and overcoming the difficulties is mind blowing. I really loved this book.

Historia
Woodrow Wilson Nickel, age 105, feels his life ebbing away. But when he learns giraffes are going extinct, he finds himself recalling the unforgettable experience he cannot take to his grave. It’s 1938. The Great Depression lingers. Hitler is threatening Europe, and world-weary Americans long for wonder. They find it in two giraffes who miraculously survive a hurricane while crossing the Atlantic. What follows is a twelve-day road trip in a custom truck to become Southern California’s first giraffes. Behind the wheel is the young Dust Bowl rowdy Woodrow.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Incredible story
Revisado: 04-25-23
This book is one of the best I've read in quite a while. The imagery of a child surviving alone, and becoming well educated is powerful. And the mystery of the storyline is very well done! great read!!

Historia
With The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors and Ship of Ghosts, James D. Hornfischer created essential and enduring narratives about America’s World War II Navy, works of unique immediacy distinguished by rich portraits of ordinary men in extremis and exclusive new information. Now he does the same for the deadliest, most pivotal naval campaign of the Pacific war: Guadalcanal. Neptune’s Inferno is at once the most epic and the most intimate account ever written of the contest for control of the seaways of the Solomon Islands.

My dad was Navy, on a Tin Can...I was Navy, on a Tin Can...my son was Navy...but he went medical and served with Marines in Afganistan.
Hearing stories about the heroic actions of those men fighting on the seas in WW2, just fills me with awe and appreciation of the efforts that generation did to preserve our freedom!
This book is a fantastic, and emotional narrative of one of the great sea battles.

Historia
Here is the kind of authentically detailed epic novel that has become Louis L’Amour’s hallmark. It is the compelling story of US Air Force major Joe Mack, a man born out of time. When his experimental aircraft is forced down in Russia and he escapes a Soviet prison camp, he must call upon the ancient skills of his Indian forebears to survive the vast Siberian wilderness.

Break from tradition
Revisado: 01-21-21
When I think of Louis L'Amour books, I think of the old west, cowboys, wagon trains...traditional wild west stories. This book was a welcome break from that tradition. It still had the characteristics of Louis L'Amour books, the good guy, the battles and struggles, the plot twists, etc...but it was written in a more modern setting and in another country. Well done.

This is without a doubt, one of the best readings of General Robert E Lee, that I have ever heard. It shows his weaknesses, his strengths, his moral character, and his humanity. Just excellent!!

Historia
Robert E. Lee is one of the most famous and decorated American generals in history. The son of Revolutionary War hero Henry "Light Horse Harry" Lee III, General Lee was a native of Virginia and a top graduate at West Point. So distinguished was Lee that President Abraham Lincoln offered him command of the entire Union army before the onset of the Civil War. Lee famously declined the offer and instead served his home state of Virginia after it seceded.

good mystery but frustrating
Revisado: 11-16-19
perhaps this is a new style of writing, but I don't like it. it's another great story by Stephen King but it is very frustrating to hear the story moving along and mid sentence, the story drops and changes to another part of the story. there are also multiple times when mid sentence the chapter changes. I just don't like this style of writing.

Historia
"Wuthering Heights" is Emily Brontë's only novel. It was first published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell, and a posthumous second edition was edited by her sister Charlotte. The name of the novel comes from the Yorkshire manor on the moors on which the story centers (as an adjective, "wuthering" is a Yorkshire word referring to turbulent weather). The narrative tells the tale of the all-encompassing and passionate, yet thwarted, love between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw.
