Great, need more.
Revisado: 09-29-23
I think this is the most unique book of the series, the characters are more balanced in their share of the story. Only wish the book was longer.
John Lee is in my opinion the best narrator there is, I have bought books from authors I don’t know because he is the narrator.
This series has almost caught up with the timeline of the Century Trilogy. What is next? Victorian England? or maybe a prequel is required, Anglo-Saxon England to the Norman conquest? Certainly not the Edwardian era...

Never is an extraordinary novel, full of heroines and villains, false prophets and elite warriors, jaded politicians and opportunistic revolutionaries. It brims with cautionary wisdom for our times, and delivers a visceral, heart-pounding story that transports listeners to the brink of the unimaginable.

Classic Follett, but much better
Revisado: 11-17-21
It reminds me of the first novels I read from the author but with the depth of the Trilogies. Characters are complex, all plots are captivating. In a lot of fiction, different cultures are portrayed as stereotypes, in this novel can sense the authenticity, great book.

Historia
It is 997 CE, the end of the Dark Ages. England is facing attacks from the Welsh in the west and the Vikings in the east. Those in power bend justice according to their will, regardless of ordinary people and often in conflict with the king. Without a clear rule of law, chaos reigns. In these turbulent times, three characters find their lives intertwined.

Great story, excellent performance.
Revisado: 09-17-20
I have always enjoyed Follett’s books, but the Knigsbridge series is in a different category, the style and characters on this prequel follow a similar pattern and if you liked the other books this will not disappoint. I was unable to stop listening and can only hope for a 5th maybe set between the English Civil War and the Restoration.
John Lee’s narration is as always great.

“Ten Years Later is not The Three Musketeers”
Revisado: 09-12-15
The plot follows the same style as the original trilogy and starts with some promise, but it feels as if the author ran out of time (or paper) and it is bit anticlimactic.
The characters are caught doing things that the original would never consider.

A short history of digital technology.
Revisado: 10-08-14
This book is great, the way each biography and technical development interlaces and the insightful narrative made me feel like a witness to history.
Isaacson is a master distilling the essence of each person and the relevance of each technological achievement, putting it all in perspective in a neat well-narrated package.

Back in January 1995 in Los Angeles, California, a Singaporean pornstar named Annabel Chong took cultural rebellion to an extreme, on terms that had never been negotiated before. Lacks substance
Revisado: 09-28-13
The author tried to make a study on the impact of fame, a treaty on psychology and sociology plus a critique on an authoritarian regime but it is all based on a personality that had her 15 minutes more than a decade ago, and does not seam to have had a big impact even then. The result is repetitive and boring, it is a hard book to finish and feels like reading the source material, the draft and the book plus the NYT review all at the same time.

After reading the Walter Isaacson book I wanted a bit more, unfortunately this book is full of lapses and, it seams, some inaccuracies. The problem with abridged books is that I don’t know who’s to blame.

Historia
The atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed more than 100,000 instantly, mostly women, children, and the elderly. Many hundreds of thousands more succumbed to their horrific injuries later, or slowly perished of radiation-related sickness. Yet the bombs were "our least abhorrent choice", American leaders claimed at the time - and still today most people believe they ended the Pacific War and saved millions of American and Japanese lives.

Good story, but the characters' part in most historic milestones reminds me a bit of Forrest Gump and requires some naiveté. Still, can’t wait for the last instalment.
