Historia
According to the FBI, I was considered a serial murderer after three kills. What do they call me after fifty-two? They call me the Silencer. One final bullet would have been all it took to stop me from taking another soul, and I would have been doing Meridian City a service by pulling that trigger. An angel crying for help stopped me, and that night, I took three lives for her. Then three turned into eight. Then eight turned into twenty. Twenty turned into twenty-one. Twenty-one turned into twenty-three.

great book but also a great annoyance

I'm not going to say much here because people need to read it themselves. but in my honest opinion, Elaina was the real antagonist of this story. She's the epitome of "play stupid games, win stupid prizes".

Historia
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

Historia
My entire life changed in an instant. One violent moment took my mother and destroyed me. I can't even remember it. All I know is…it was my fault. Now I'm entering senior year after hiding away from the world for as long as I could. The only distraction I have from the heavy weight of my scars is my best friend, Graham. He's been my rock through it all. When his cousin Atlas appears, my world suddenly tilts on its already unsteady axis. Everyone warns me to stay away from the star football player with a bad boy reputation and a chip on his shoulder.

decent story. easy to listen. more research needed
Revisado: 10-24-24
The book was better than I expected. I like the character development. however, the author really needs to do a bit of research on basic football fundamentals. #52 is a linebacker (defense) number. never would a wide receiver have that number. the quarterback gloating about him having 80 yards of passing is very far fetched. 9/10 80 yards passing is an absolute terrible game. I'm a pro football player but I love audiobooks so I wanted to give a try. just those small details kind of irked me. but, overall, solid solid book.

Historia
Ever since she sat next to me in class and gave me death eyes, Willa Sutter's been on my shit list. Why she hates me, I don't know. What I do know is that Willa is the kind of chaos I don't need in my tidy life. She's the next generation of women's soccer. Wild hair, wilder eyes. Bee-stung lips that should be illegal. And a temper that makes the devil seem friendly. She's a thorn in my side, a menacing, cantankerous pain-in-the-ass who's turned our business mathematics course into a goddamn gladiator arena. I'll leave this war zone unscathed, coming out on top....

A love/hate relationship
Revisado: 05-30-24
I have a love/hate relationship with this book. I love a good relationship blossoming story that delves into controversies by both protagonists and this book nailed that. However, I was a bit put off by the constant “in your face”, random sexual innuendos. I get it, their in their super early 20s and hell I was the same way when I was that age but every chapter was at least 2-3 “I need to cum” “I’m bulging” blah blah blah and it just kinda felt forced.
Another thing that was grinding my gears was the major lack of communication. Yes, that is the whole point of the book but once again, it felt forced. There were blatant times that some situations could have been resolved by someone just speaking their mind and telling the truth. But that makes this book and I understand why information was withheld in certain situations.
Overall, it’s a sweet, easy to listen book that gives a lot of emotions - which I truly enjoy.
I do recommend this book for someone who is a fan of Abby Jimenez (I think this book pays a few tributes with the playlists), Ashley Poston and Emily Henry.

A Masterpiece that needs to be Optioned Immediately
Revisado: 05-20-24
There isn’t enough positive things I can say about Ladarrion’s book “Blood at the Root”. This listen had me enthralled from the very first minute and it just kept getting better and better.
The narration by Jalyn Hall along with Ladarrion’s writing had me swept away into a world that I could only wish that I could be a part of. This is masterful execution at its finest.
As a black avid audible listener, I couldn’t be more proud of this work of art and I am so looking forward to more of Malik’s adventures at Cayman.
A perfect story. 10/10

I need more
Revisado: 10-31-23
I am led to believe that the story doesn’t end here. There’s too many gaps that need to be filled which I’m sure the author may have something up her sleeve. The story is gripping and it was a unique pace that I haven’t been used to but it made sense for that decision. It was a captivating story that has me yearning for more. I need answers and a complete conclusion. Overall, highly recommended read/listen.

Historia
Tall, meaty, muscle-bound, and hairier than most throw rugs, Dylan doesn't look like your average 15-year-old, so naturally, high school has not been kind to him. To make matters worse, on the day his school bans hats (his preferred camouflage), Dylan goes up on his roof only to fall and wake up in the hospital with a broken leg - and a mandate to attend group therapy for self-harmers. Dylan vows to say nothing and zones out at therapy - until he meets Jamie. She's funny, smart, and so stunning, even his womanizing best friend, JP, would be jealous.

One of the best audiobooks I have ever read
Revisado: 05-06-23
I am completely invested in these characters and I would love it if there was a book two and three following Dylan’s and Jamie’s high school career and into college. I feel there is so much more you could do to build their character arc and also JP’s redemption (self reflected) on life. Ahhh give me more give me more! I have already listened three times!

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Lily Chu does it again!
Revisado: 01-23-23
I’m OBSESSED with Lily Chu’s audiobooks. (I’m also a married man who listens to mostly international spy thrillers and crime stories). Once I started listening to The Comeback on a whim to switch things up a little bit, I couldn’t stop listening. It’s written so well and Phillipa Soo does a amazing job embodying the characters in the story. These two ladies have me HOOKED. I can’t wait to listen to the next one Lily comes up with! Got me wanting to move to Toronto..
