Historia
In sparkling Night City, a ragtag group of strangers have just pulled off a heist, robbing a convoy transporting a mysterious container belonging to Militech. Very cool to drop into my favorite universe; not too cheesy and smooth//subtle in not really utilizing any significant characters from the game

Perfect- for the most part 😉
Revisado: 12-30-24
Love the series and this volume. Definitely will be moving on to “read” the 3rd book (*there is a “3rd book,” right?- I’m almost positive I saw an ad for it…) shortly. If you’re one who resonates with a certain brand of “tongue and cheek” humor and think it’s a bonus that’s it’s served over baseline of Sci-Fi, well, then the 3 of us should have a nice shared experience at the local watering hole sometime in the future…

The best sci-fi novel I have “read” and at least a couple years
Revisado: 06-10-23
One heck of a high-quality science, fiction story and phenomenal audio production. I believe this is the first audio novel that I have listened to performed by an ensemble cast whereby one voice acted as one character. I found it thoroughly enjoyable.

Historia
On a planet where life is cheap, in a city built on corruption, very few things are considered holy. The Landing Site is one of them. The remains of the century-old habitat pod—which delivered the colonists to the only barely habitable place on the cruel world of Croatoan—has become a monument to the hardscrabble people who somehow survived the unsurvivable. So when blood is shed on that sacred ground, it’s seen as an attack against the entire colony.

I guess it would be OK if it was intended for YA?
Revisado: 03-23-23
Is this a YA novella? (*if it is and I just missed that, then disregard this whole review and send my apologies) I remember enjoying the first volume- maybe I just didn’t pay that close attention. Anyway, this book is just plain cheesy. If you’re looking for a clever and mature sci-fi story, this is not it. I believe the last line was something super-tropey like “The answers are in the stars.” Larry, you can do better than this. Again, I believe the first one was actually decent. And I will say that I think the overall story universe has redeeming features/is entertaining. That’s the most positive I can be.

*ACTUALLY NOT MY FAVORITE FROM ESJM
Revisado: 02-02-23
I love the “The Glass Hotel” and “The Singer’s Gun” and “Sea of Tranquility.” Figured that I would feel the same about Station Eleven. Surprisingly, I did not. In my opinion, it almost felt like it was written by a different author. More to this point, I felt the voice actors for the other novels resonated with ESJM’s style much better. I gotta give it straight. Nonetheless, I am a big fan of ESJM and this will not deter me. Probably gonna try “The Lola Quartet” next…

Historia
Thirteen hundred gates have opened to solar systems around the galaxy. But as humanity builds its interstellar empire in the alien ruins, the mysteries and threats grow deeper. In the dead systems where gates lead to stranger things than alien planets, Elvi Okoye begins a desperate search to discover the nature of a genocide that happened before the first human beings existed and to find weapons to fight a war against forces at the edge of the imaginable. But the price of that knowledge may be higher than she can pay.

Revisado: 01-12-23
The Expanse is Still Great, at Book 8 (*intentional rhyme).
One of the top 2-3 stories/plots of the series. And not to take anything away from the author (*or is it authors? It’s a pseudonym, right? and there’s actually 2 of them?- I gotta finish watching that YouTube explainer clip), but…
Jefferson Mays on VA is PHENOMENAL! Mays’ work here is a FRIGGIN’ MASTERPIECE.

Historia
A revolution brewing for generations has begun in fire. It will end in blood. The Free Navy - a violent group of Belters in black-market military ships - has crippled the Earth and begun a campaign of piracy and violence among the outer planets. The colony ships heading for the thousand new worlds on the far side of the alien ring gates are easy prey, and no single navy remains strong enough to protect them. James Holden and his crew know the strengths and weaknesses of this new force better than anyone.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Very Good, But Not Phenomenal Like The Previous 3
Revisado: 10-30-22
So, I started the Bobiverse Universe within the last month and have just finished book 4. Overall, it has been a fantastic adventure. I have enjoyed the books thoroughly and would add that I can’t see how there’s any other way to “read” them then via the audible experience performed by Ray Porter. Porter knocks it out of the park. In my mind, Porter is Bob and Bob is he (or should I say “we?”).
Anyway, about book 4: it’s not as phenomenal as the previous 3, but it’s still very good. This series has introduced me to Dennis E. Taylor and I am now officially a fan. Gotta say, I like that man’s style.
If I had to do it all over again, I would certainly do book 4 again. And I am definitely going to do book 5 when it comes out in 2023…

Historia
In an authoritarian America, personal freedoms are at risk, information is being controlled, and legal citizens suddenly find themselves being deported. A growing resistance movement is active, angry, and looking to strike back. And a TV show for kids may be the key. Enter Celeste Montgomery and Bailey Vance. Celeste is an intern for the show that features Bailey singing and dancing with puppets. While Bailey teaches the kids about geography, Celeste is planting codes into the script, songs, background, whatever she can do to pass messages for the resistance.

Phenomenal Experiential Dystopian Quirky Short Story
Revisado: 10-18-22
A very very good and fun short story. A non-linear, almost interactive, charming tale of underground networks and autocratic government agencies and a little romance. Also, there’s hand puppets and pie.

Historia
In 2018, Koko died at age 46. The news made headlines around the world. What would become of interspecies communication now that its number one ambassador had crossed the rainbow bridge? When Koko died, ape language studies were long since in the rearview mirror. Penny’s work with Koko was scientifically passé. No one much cared anymore. So what then did The Gorilla Foundation have to show for its four decades of work with Koko? What about the woman who devoted her life to this animal? And how do we as a culture make amends with what Koko became?
