Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

The excellent writing style of the author.

This is one of those books, you never want to end. That being said, the end was satisfying. This isn't usually my genre, but the reviews were so good, I figured it was worth a shot. I hate when it takes several chapters for me to get interested in a story. This one had me right from the beginning. I just finished one of her other books, that was equally enjoyable. Also the narrator did a great job. Very enjoyable listen, all the way around. I expect I'll be listening to more of her stories in the future.

For werewolf story lovers!!
Revisado: 03-05-24
Ok, so lets get this out of the way first...AI narration, not a fan. It was good for a few laughs, but the pleasure of listening would definitely be enhanced with a human narrator(s). Overall, it didn't detract too much from the story.
As for the story, I loved it from the very beginning. It's not easy to get me interested and I hate having to endure several chapters of a book, just to have to give up because I can't get into it. This had me from the first 5 minutes of listening, despite the somewhat wooden AI narration. Great story, very engaging and suspenseful. Just enough shock and gore to appeal to horror fans, without over or under doing it. The writing had me able to create a Bane County pictorial in my mind. The characters came to life and became part of mine while I was listening. I also assigned the two main characters...Brice and Jackson, the physical look and voices of Matt Damon and Ben Afleck, lol! It just worked for me. Also, after book one, I didn't realize there were four more books, boy was I happy. The ending was not a disappointment and if the author decided to continue the story in the future, I'd be there in a heartbeat!! Very well written, I highly recommend.

Bane County is an Ongoing Saga . . . Mystery, Suspense, an edge-of-your-seat Thriller with characters you’ll fall in love with. An old-school, heart-pounding, coming-of-age Horror series with 1,000s of 5-Star Reviews. The large river-island of Bane County has a troubled past; but some histories are eagerly forgotten, especially those written in blood. Nestled into the foothills of the National Wildlife Refuge, the small rural town of Silver Canyon seems idyllic to most; but a long-slumbering evil is about to reawaken. Seventeen-year-old Bryce McNeel is your average teenage boy, living on ...

great story
Revisado: 02-19-24
Just as most of the other reviewers noted, this was a very well written story, I really enjoyed it. I did not enjoy the robotic, flat, emotionless AI generated narration. This story would've been much better with a human narrator.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Great read, kept my interest!!

I am not a huge fan of audiobooks in general. I sometimes have a hard time with the narrator doing different voices and the books can be very long and by the time I get from one listening session to another, I cannot always remember the previous clearly and get frustrated with the foggy details. This is truth! However, I had a bit of long distance driving to do recently and decided it would be a good time to try this book. Listening on long trips, if it keeps my interest, really makes the time pass. So I had seen my husband had purchased this book and decided to give it a try. SK is one of my favorite authors, so I was happy to see it there. Well, I listened every free minute I had and as the book wound down toward the end I started to get that sadness you experience when reading a good book or watching a good t.v. series...I didn't want it to end. I loved this story, which even surprised me a little since I've never been a "fairytale" fan. So if you are inclined towards this genre and author, definitely give it a go, hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did!

Historia
In 1282 AD, the Kingdom of Sicily is under the rule of a tyrannical French king and subject to his brutal Angevin army. Daily acts of violence and persecution are commonplace in a once-prosperous realm. For twenty-year-old Aetna Vespiri, daughter of a revered Sicilian knight, survival has become second nature. As a child, she witnessed the destruction of her family’s vineyard by Angevin soldiers and spent the next decade learning the tenets of stiletto-blade combat. Years later in Palermo, Aetna fends off a nefarious sergeant and sparks an uprising against the Angevin occupation.

Invest in some voice actors to narrate!
Revisado: 09-14-22
I'm struggling to get through the story, which might be a very good story, but having a one woman show is not my cup of tea! This is something I really dislike, when an audio book is narrated by one person to do all the voices. It makes me picture myself in a circle at storytime when I was five years old! The narrator is doing her best, but if you don't like this format, don't buy this book. That being said, I am interested in the story, but doubt I will finish the book. Disappointed!
