Historia
In just six years, ACT UP, New York, a broad and unlikely coalition of activists from all races, genders, sexualities, and backgrounds, changed the world. Armed with rancor, desperation, intelligence, and creativity, it took on the AIDS crisis with an indefatigable, ingenious, and multifaceted attack on the corporations, institutions, governments, and individuals who stood in the way of AIDS treatment for all. Let the Record Show is a revelatory exploration - and long-overdue reassessment - of the coalition’s inner workings, conflicts, achievements, and ultimate fracture.

Stumbling narration
Revisado: 02-08-23
Like others have written, the narrator wronged this important book by inserting pauses where none should exist, fumbling phrases, botching names, and mispronouncing dozens of words. The only reason I persevered was because I knew it would take me months to read a hard copy.

Historia
When a small vial arrives in her mailbox from "Lewis Carroll", Ayelet Waldman is at a low point. Her mood storms have become intolerably severe; she has tried nearly every medication possible; her husband and children are suffering with her. So she opens the vial, places two drops on her tongue, and joins the ranks of an underground but increasingly vocal group of scientists and civilians successfully using therapeutic microdoses of LSD.

So happy the author narrated the audiobook
Revisado: 11-14-18
I found this book very enthralling, and the author's performance as narrator actually benefited the story (which is not often the case). I'm not sure I would have enjoyed the book as much if I had read a hardcopy. The author struck a smart balance of personal history and experience with historical and factual content about mental health and medication. I enjoyed following the author's journey with micro-dosing and was disappointed when it ended. #MentalHealth #SelfMedication #Memoir #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Enlightening, humorous, touching
Revisado: 11-14-18
Stepping into the South Africa that Trevor Noah grew up in was an eye-opening experience. While the atmosphere of that era was dark and depressing, Noah was able to balance poignant memories with humor. The one thing I would have appreciated is a change in the way the book was structured. Jumping backward and forward in time wasn't done successfully. It was sometimes confusing. #PostApartheid #SouthAfrica #Humorous #Enlightening #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

The victim looks exactly like Cassie and carries ID identifying herself as Alexandra Madison, an alias Cassie once used as an undercover cop. Couldn't stop listening!
Revisado: 11-14-18
I enjoyed this book more than the first one in the Dublin Murder Squad series! The only reason that I gave the story 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of the plot characteristics and character dynamics reminded me of The Secret History by Donna Tartt, which I had listened to not too long before. Overall, the thing I loved most about this story line was the undercover cop aspect. Narration was great, too! #FemaleProtagonist #Thriller #Dark #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes
