Couldn’t get into it.
Revisado: 02-17-25
I love Mandy Robothan books but I had the hardest time getting into the story. Overall it was good but her other novels are far better.

Fantastic Story
Revisado: 07-03-24
This is the third book by this author I’ve listened to and I have enjoyed each one more. The storyline is complex and tackles parts of the war few others have.

Historia
Lilian Morrison has one memento of her beloved sister, Emma: a battered silver music box. A family heirloom that was passed down through two world wars, the box was the key to Lilian’s recent, joyous reunion with the surviving members of her birth family, whom she lost many years earlier when she and her sister fled Hitler’s Germany on the Kindertransport. Now Lilian is compelled to investigate Emma’s final days after the girls were shipped to separate foster families in Britain and the time before Emma was killed in the London Blitz.

There is another gulf—between the traditional Jewish ways that Hanna chose to leave behind in Warsaw, and her new, independent life in London. But as autumn of 1940 draws near, Germany begins a savage aerial bombing campaign in England, killing and displacing tens of thousands. Good but slow
Revisado: 06-24-24
Good story but it was really really slow to get going. Too many unanswered questions about main characters.

All of the major characters were awful people.
Revisado: 06-14-24
Loathsome people, especially the baby’s mum. Baby would have been better off with Maggie. Mue was boring and she was supposed to be the main character.

I cried for Kira and Reinhardt
Revisado: 05-10-24
Beautiful story that made me cry for Kira and Reinhardt. War is an ugly thing where so many are casualties because of greed, ego, and most of all hate. I would have preferred a different ending but it was a great book regardless.
