Beautifully written
Revisado: 08-10-24
I will carry Amanda Peters’ story and her characters within my thoughts these coming days, because they were brought to life through her impeccable writing.
I would have give 5 stars for performance except that the male narrator’s voice did not come through clearly or loudly enough making it hard to hear his narration. I consider this to be a sound engineering issue as I have not experienced this before with my Audible App.

Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Beautifully composed and narrated!
I experienced the events through each young man’s story; feeling their pain and wondering at their strength.

I have longed for such a novel as A Town Called Solace; a literary pleasure that has satisfied my yearning for a well written story. I felt invited into the lives of Lawson’s characters - welcomed in to experience and appreciate the deep troubles of their lives. A beautifully written novel.

Her best yet!
Revisado: 01-22-23
After struggling through Elizabeth George’s previous books in this series, Ms George finally wrote her finest of the Lynley/Havers mysteries in, The Punishment She Deserves. Written without the nonsense of extraneous characters (Deborah St James,) George put everything into developing the captivating characters within the horrific events of this spine-chilling
thriller.

The Extraordinary Voice of THE Survivor
Revisado: 03-28-19
Had a professional narrator read this powerful memoir by K.L. Randis, I’d have heard her horrific-to-remarkable journey; but once-removed.
Hearing only Ms. Randis’ voice as she described her abusive childhood, committed me to her truth - her courage for breaking free from the prison built around her by her abuser (father by nature only.)
Most powerful in her journey is Ms. Randis’ resiliency. A guiding light for seeking out healthy helping adults as she navigates through overwhelming complexities toward freedom and healing of her past. A supernatural love must have invaded and surrounded her being.
My first and only 5 star review.
