Imagine this: a Steins Gate worldline visited by 21st century geeks. It is still 2019 in this worldline but the human race was destroyed 100000 years before. The niche left by humans is filled by sabre-tooth tigers, dire wolfs, mammoths, and giant sloths. The cause of the human elimination was the eruption of the giant Yellowstone volcano 100000 years ago. Meanwhile, in our own worldline, Yellowstone is erupting right in our own midlands. I am eagerly awaiting the nect volume.

A STEM thriller - Space will kill the unwary

In some respects it is a continuation of MARS: it explains how a hard vaccume enviornment can kill you in a thousand ways. Moon cities like Artimus require an amazing level of training and idiot-proofing for ordinary citizens working non-STEM jobs to live safely there. The heroine Jazz is a low-level criminal whose current caper requires her to defeat the fail-safes while protecting the citizens.

Overwrought President

Bob Woodward protrays President Trump as a narcissist entertainer who somehow got to be POTUS. I heard no conclusve evidence of collusion with Russia but lots of evidence about an unstable personality.

A tech-heavy story

It is like a Star-Trek next generation story where Geordi LaForge is explaining stuff to Commander Riker. Lots of <tech> dialog that resolves to deus ex machina. On the other hand the encounters with alien races provides high drama and excitement. I already listened to Bob #1 and I will be downloading Bob #3 next month. The narrator does an excellent job of keeping the characters separste. That is my only quibble. The "Bobs" are described as clones. What they really are is "forks" as in "fork agent Smith."

This is a moving story describing female mathimations. I always thought that Virginia was a backward state but this story shows the good that an elightened federal government can do.

A lawyer's procedural

It's like the second half of "Law & Order." I now understand what Oscar Wilde faced in the 1890's. Odd that British law had not advanced since then. Here's a team that literally beat the system, but it still took a massive effort.

A story about role playing games.

The Japanese Anime Sword Art Online is a similiar story. In SAO the story is about gamers trapped in a virtual reality. NPC is about the characters (extras or atmosphere in movie-talk) that actually have their home in the game.

Lisbeth joins the geeks

she already was one of us, but like M. Robot tv show, the issues and language was remarkably accurate. I liked the dovetails with the firdt three stories, and I thought that Lisbeth wasn't nearly as repulsive as she has been up to this point. this is a great caper thriller.
