Mother and warrior. Scholar and spy. Rebel and hero. Set in a magical world of terror and wonder, this novel is a deeply felt epic of courage and war, in which the fates of these characters intertwine - and where ordinary people become heroes, and their lives become legend.

Historia
For generations, nobles have gathered at a scenic estate once per year to compete. What transpires there is spoken of only in rumors, save for the prizes. Potent, powerful, and precious; the winners are said to receive a gift from magic itself. Reeling after their loss to Kalzidar, the adventurers from Maplebark can only press forward, following advice imparted by the gods. Their divine directions will lead them on a series of twisting paths, branching between old friends and new challenges, before ultimately pointing at a particular estate on a specific evening.

Good Story Good Voice Acting Many Editing Mistakes
Revisado: 01-25-23
There were quite a few times when the editing was wrong. Wrong voice used or even two different readings of the same line over each other.

Historia
Timothy Walter Bolton - better known as Timmy - has spent most of his life as a necromancer. When he isn't terrorising his enemies, he's plotting inside his castle, which is built on top of lightless chasms filled with nameless horrors and beings of a generally malevolent and megalomaniacal nature. But after one of his latest creations, a zombie hydra-dragon-bear, tries to eat him, he decides that maybe it's time to find a new, less dangerous, career.

People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

Funny Moments
Revisado: 10-04-21
I liked the story and the narrator did a good job but what kind of sociopath put music sections into the chapter breaks? How is that blaring horn and arrhythmic drumming adding anything to this?

Not satisfied with the change of narrator
Revisado: 06-12-21
I loved the first narrator, this one would be fine if not for the change. Either rerecord the first one with this lady or do these with the lady from the first.

I love his books
Revisado: 04-18-21
This one felt more spliced together than his previous book in the series. I would have liked to get fewer POV characters but still enjoyed being in the world. I felt the narrator was less on point than she was in the previous book too, her voices seemed less distinct and consistent. I will be getting the next one regardless.

Good if You Made it This Far
Revisado: 08-31-20
I liked the book I did find the jumping from character to character harder to follow than the first book and it often left cliffhangers. It was sometimes harder to follow due to the many names and characters interacting between chapters.

Should Be Voiced By Samuel F#@king Jackson
Revisado: 03-06-19
I liked this book, the story is good and improves near the end, the narration is also good. I liked Will Wheaton on some other books as narrator, here he is ok but with all the f$#king swaring in the mother f#&king book it should have been narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and with the way Wheaton delivers the narration it can be a bit... aggressive on the ears.
