Historia
The Berlin Wall is perhaps modern history’s most infamous edifice. The Berlin Wall: A World Divided is more than just the story of brick, concrete, and barbed wire. It’s the story of a city, a country, and a world - all of them divided. To hear how the Berlin Wall exemplified this division is to gain insights into a central tension of world history: between the human drive for freedom and the political will that would control and repress that drive.

Just Ok Camino Book

I felt this book was way too much about the the inner troubled thoughts of suicide, relational struggles and mental instability and not enough about the Camino de Santiago.

They were long-shot underdogs and if they were to survive, they needed a miracle. The armies of Islam had swept like wildfire into the Iberia peninsula. By the beginning of the 9th century, King Alfonso’s Kingdom of Asturias was one of a couple of enclaves of Christianity remaining in Espania. It was the year 814 and King Alfonso II had just received word that Charlemagne, the Frankish conqueror and protector of the Catholic Church, was dead. Alfonso’s small northern kingdom was no match for the Caliphate of Cordoba which had orchestrated a vast economic revival known as the Andalusian ...

Good Not Great
Revisado: 03-10-25
This fictional story was mildly pleasant. The story was filled with extremely dramatic instances which I never experienced in five trips along the Camino de Santiago. I did not care for the immorality and foul language. I did enjoy the narration as the voice reminded me of actress Betty White.

Sheila Kogan was not your typical pilgrim! This sixty-something, Jewish-Catholic, grandmother and dance teacher takes us on an unforgettable trek across Spain. With her, we flirt with Richard outside the Cathedral in Leon, reunite a sandal with a dancing Spaniard, weep with Meg over the loss of her daughter, and get a sensuous massage from a tyrannical angel. Close-to-the-bone, funny as well as heart-rending, the stories in Found Along The Way invite us to experience the Camino de Santiago as well as to journey inward, where fear and doubt battle trust and faith.

Historia
Kurt Koontz thought he was well prepared for his 490-mile walking trip on the historic Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in Spain. He was fit and strong. He had a good guidebook and all the right equipment. His pilgrim passport would grant him access to the shelter of hostels along the way. But all that, however helpful, did not begin to encompass the grandeur of his external or internal adventure. A Million Steps climbs over the high meadows of the Pyrenees, quests through the unceasing wind of the Meseta, and dances in the rains of Galicia. While following the yellow arrows that mark ...

Confessions
Revisado: 12-02-24
It is my experience that respected, wealthy, educated and career-honored men do not fabricate wild stories one year before they die. This book was very interesting and I found it intriguing as it appeared to be from a respected man unloading his conscience before he died. I see other reviewers want evidence to prove his story. History is his proof. I would be more curious if anyone could present evidence that disproves his story. Without that, listen to his confession and make your own mind up.
