I'd originally read this book by the same title - The Children's Blizzard by David Laskin - 15 years ago, before Audible existed. I thought it was time to reread and chose this one bc it's slightly longer. Wrong decision. It's more dialog than facts. Even in Laskin's book, there is fiction, as it's unknown the motives & conversation between victims who died. But at least he writes of the weather that caused this catastrophe, as well as other salient points. His is far more believable so if you want pure fiction, this is your choice. Otherwise, stick with the original by D Laskin. I'm returning mine.

Give me a narrator like Donada Peters or George Guidall any time!! Did not read this book & will be returning; Pehaps at a later period it will be re-recorded??

There was absolutely nothing misplaced in this narrative: it's most complimentary to the RF. That they took such umbrage to it and the author only displays what shallow people they are!! They act as if they truly are "GODS' among us and that they deserve only our Reverence. I am most pleased that I am NOT a Brit citizen who must honor them.

TOO CONFUSING IN FORMAT -

I must be old-fashioned in that I really prefer fiction with Beginning/Middle/End formats. It’s so much easier to keep track of the multiple characters that way.
If an author must use the arrangement of Past/Present, as is this book’s configuration, I find that the story would’ve been just as appealing with less than half of the ‘steps’ outlined.

It was totally unnecessary to keep going back and forth to 11 years & to the Present (Now) so many times, then also denoting the character giving voice to that chapter and the month.

There are also a number of (small) inaccuracies - why was Kate holding hands with (neighbor & widower) Joshua in one of the final revelatory scenes?
Why was the character ‘Bea’ also pronounced as ‘E’ in the final chapters?

And most glaring of all, especially as an autopsy was performed, how could a character be proclaimed a suicide when there were hammer blows done to her head?

These faults make me not wish to read anything else by this author.

This is a pure bodice-ripper, young (adult?) story. It's been mis-categorized and not the usual fare from Ms Lowe. I did not enjoy it....

This began rather interestingly, but after finding myself an hour or two ahead, it appeared to morph into ScFi, a genre I don't care for. I stopped listening then & there.....

After seeing the film BEING THE RICARDOS it was very good to round-out their history with this book - giving more/truthful insight into their history and personal data. I enjoyed this!
