Historia
Artificial intelligence isn’t coming—it’s already here. And it’s evolving faster than anyone anticipated. The real question isn’t if AI will reshape our world, but how—and what that means for you. In Two Intelligences, One Future, author Raymond Bean dives headfirst into this transformation. What started as an experiment—using AI as a collaborator—became something much bigger: a deep exploration of where intelligence, creativity, and human potential are headed. It’s a real conversation between human and machine, tackling the most urgent questions of our time: Will AI make ...

Didn’t meet expectations
Revisado: 04-16-25
I admittedly had high expectations. I was hoping for a free-flowing conversation between a human and an AI…similar to the ones I’ve had with AIs in the past. What I got was a decent piece of futurism but nothing much better or worse than, or different from, some of the works I’ve read by Ray Kurzweil and others. In fact, in some cases it seemed like the AI had been prompted to “respond in Ray Kurzweil’s breathless style”.
Still it was interesting, and the AI-generated narration was decently human-sounding overall with a few little quirks to let the listener know that’s what it was.
I would recommend as an introduction to to those who haven’t read the futurists like Kurzweil as extensively as I have, or to fanatics like me who devour all this stuff they can get their hands on.

Historia
Anomaly examines the prospect of an alien intelligence discovering life on Earth. The technological gulf between humanity and the alien species is measured in terms of millions of years. The only way to communicate is using science, but not everyone is so patient. Humanity's first contact with an alien intelligence is far more radical than anyone has ever dared imagine. With a technological gap of millions of years, mankind is barely able to recognize the arrival of an alien space craft outside the gates of the United Nations in New York.

Recording wouldn’t finish playing
Revisado: 06-15-24
The present tense story telling was annoying and the plot was unrealistic. But It was starting to get interesting at the very end. But then the recording stopped. Neither Alexa nor audible apps could play the last hour and a half or so. It might have ended up being worth suffering through the first few hours, but it appears I’ll never know.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

A perfect gem of a story
Revisado: 09-09-22
‘The Slow Regard of Silemt Things’ has a place on my list of small perfect things (but be sure to read at least “The Name of he Wind” first!) I have read the book perhaps half a dozen times and enjoyed each one. But the author’s narration of this Audible edition adds still more depth. Highly recommended!
Please keep them coming, sir! I am not getting any younger!

Historia
Become familiar with the myths and their background. Become swallowed up by the sandy Egyptian empire of old. In this book, you’ll learn about things like: the golden lotus; the Greek princess; the stories around the Sphinx; Gods like Osiris, Isis, and Horus, and their role in mythology; what women did in ancient Egyptian culture; how Egyptians handled medicinal needs; mummification and its deeper meaning and rituals; and more.

Disappointed. False advertising.
Revisado: 05-26-22
I have been looking for a long time for a work on Egyptian mythology. This is not it.
This reads like a series of disjointed lectures on ancient Egyptian history and culture from early dynasties up early historical times. Large quantities of information are frequently repeated more or less verbatim in multiple chapters, which are organized in no discernible order. Mythology is referred to only in passing as it might bear on the history and culture.
I will probably finish because it is a mildly interesting series of lectures on a culture and history I don’t know much about, delivered as if by an interested TA reading lecture notes.
