Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Disappointing
Revisado: 12-12-14
What disappointed you about In the Woods?
Spoiler alert: as a "whodunit" mystery this book is disappointing. There are two mysteries in it, one is never solved and serves only as a distraction from the main story. It brings in elements of the supernatural that are never developed or explained. The main mystery is not handled well, and the characters lack insight and depth.
Would you be willing to try another one of Steven Crossley’s performances?

Historia
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

It's like listening to the old Stephen King
Revisado: 03-02-14
Any additional comments?
I have been a cocstant and faithful reader of Stephen King, but some of the recent titles have been lacking. Dr. Sleep was like a welcome back! The story and plot were suspenseful without the graphic details. The characters were like old friends. I enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.

Historia
Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Poor narration
Revisado: 12-13-13
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The voices used by the narrator were disturbing and made it difficult to continue to listen. If the story hadn't been so intriguing I would not have been able to complete the book. I would have enjoyed it better if the narrator had simply read the book.

Good book, but...
Revisado: 09-29-13
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator had a good voice and read the story well, but his voice when reading the part of children detracted from the story. It would have been better if he had continued with his regular voice and not tried to impersonate a child. His tone, and inflection for children's voices grated on my nerves and made it hard for me to appreciate those characters.

Historia
Lyra is rushing to the cold, far North, where witch clans and armored bears rule. North, where the Gobblers take the children they steal—including her friend Roger. North, where her fearsome uncle Asriel is trying to build a bridge to a parallel world. Can one small girl make a difference in such great and terrible endeavors? This is Lyra: a savage, a schemer, a liar, and as fierce and true a champion as Roger or Asriel could want. But what Lyra doesn't know is that to help one of them will be to betray the other.

Historia
Budo is lucky as imaginary friends go. He's been alive for more than five years, which is positively ancient in the world of imaginary friends. But Budo feels his age, and thinks constantly of the day when eight-year-old Max Delaney will stop believing in him. When that happens, Budo will disappear. Max is different from other children. Some people say that he has Asperger's Syndrome, but most just say he's "on the spectrum." None of this matters to Budo, who loves Max and is charged with protecting him from the class bully.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Probably
What aspect of Robin Miles’s performance would you have changed?
Good narrator
Any additional comments?
The story was good up until the final chapter. The end was cheesy- story would have been better if it ended without the last chapter.

The best stories pull readers in and keep them turning the pages, eager to discover more—to find the answer to the question: "And then what happened?" The true hallmark of great literature is great imagination, and as Neil Gaiman and Al Sarrantonio prove with this outstanding collection, when it comes to great fiction, all genres are equal.

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-09-12
Would you try another book from the authors and/or the narrators?
Probably not from the authors- definitely not from the narrators
What do you think your next listen will be?
Unknown
What didn’t you like about the narrators’s performance?
Very poor accents that were mostly stereotypical and grated on my nerves.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Stories?
Most of the stories. There were only a few that were good, and on them the narration was bad.
Any additional comments?
There were a few good stories, so I kept listening, but most were disappointing and some were really awful!

Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

predictable
Revisado: 08-20-10
This book took a long time to get started and never really got off of the ground. As a long time Stephen King fan, I found it predictable and to be a blend of previously written books. The basic good vs, evil of The Stand, blended with some of the alien invasion features of The Tommyknockers.
