I don't like AI voiceover
Revisado: 06-14-24
As per usual, Campbell wrote a great story. That being said, all the charm of Hank and this unique world is lost due to a virtual voiceover. It's pretty good for what it is, sounds a lot more human than most, but there's no emotion. It mispronounces things here and there as well, but what most bothers me is the lack of soul in the delivery. Unfortunately, I will probably refrain from listening to any more stories in the Hank universe unless they are voiced by Liam, the original guy

I hate the virtual voice
Revisado: 06-11-24
Liam, who narrates the regular books in the series, knows how to emote. The generated voice, although WAY better than any other generated voice I've heard, is still very monotonous. I haven't even gotten very far in the story yet, but I felt compelled to write a review because of this. So far it's not as playful as the other hard luck Hank stories, but it's still very good and very interesting because Stephen Campbell is a talented writer. but that computer generated voice… I am not about that

Entertaining enough
Revisado: 10-14-22
It’s a pretty decent story. Decent enough, at least, that I bought the series when it went on mega sale. I’ll say this… the “banter” is atrociously cringeworthy. That being said, it’s a pretty good tale and it’s interesting to follow along. You’d think that these lit rpg style books would all be pretty similar, but this and others seem to do a pretty good job of remaining rather unique.

Historia
A floating fortress occupied by warrior gnomes. A castle made of sand. A derelict submarine guarded by malfunctioning machines. A haunted crypt surrounded by lethal traps. It was supposed to be easy. One bubble. Four castles. Fifteen days. Capture each one, and the stairwell is unlocked. Here's the thing. It's never easy. Carl and his team can't go it alone. Not this time. They must rely on the help of the low-level, I-can't-believe-these-idiots-are-still-alive crawlers trapped in the bubble with them. But can they be trusted?

I don’t often do this…
Revisado: 10-10-21
Like I said in my title, I don’t often do this… But dungeon crawler Karl definitely deserves a reading and a review. This is a story of sorts that I haven’t heard before. It’s something that I’ve considered before, something that friends and I have talked about, but not something that I’ve actually seen done. It is masterfully delivered, the story is fun and engaging, and it includes a good mix of both comedy and drama. As a listener, I am fully able to connect to the characters and develop a bond with them. I am invested in this story, which speaks miles for the quality of its writing and delivery.

Never do this…
Revisado: 07-19-21
I never do this. I never review these things, but this is probably my favorite series on audible (or at least it’s in my top three). This particular installment of the story isn’t the most thrilling, but it continues a storyline of which I absolutely can not get enough. It never fails in engaging me. Read (or listen to, rather) the whole thing from the beginning, including the pieces that branch out. You won’t be disappointed.
