The story by Veena Rao was interesting, although the characters were more or less the usual Indian caricatures- and that too from 20 years ago.

The narrator....I am astounded that Jeed Saddy mispronounced every single word of Indian origin starting with "Amma". moving on to Uncle Anand and Grandpa Madhava- never mind words like "Rajagopuram" or "Bharatha Natyam". Everything was rendered with great gusto in American phonetics and sounded ridiculous. I am even more astounded that she didn't know how to pronounce "Dubai" instead pronouncing it as Dubey... Did Veena Rao not listen to the narration?

It seems slipshod and disrespectful to not even attempt to pronounce Indian names and words correctly.

The story was very good, bringing to life an era and a culture beautifully.
The pronunciation by Sumeet Bharathi was indescribably horrible. It sounded like a parody from Saturday Night Live. Could she not taken some effort to learn the names - Ponni not Pony, Raman not Rumun, Kitta not Keetha- and festival names like Krishna Jayanthi?
Disrespectful and sloppy.
Did the author not listen to the outcome?

The story is quite interesting- writing and characterization are good and show the author’s skill. But the audible performance was horrible. Every word of Indian origin was butchered. I don’t understand how the narrator didn’t take the slightest effort to learn how to pronounce even one Indian word- and how the author thought this was a good presentation of her work.

A beautiful, thoughtful and insightful exploration of the Ramayana drawing from versions from various times, regions and philosophies. Anand Neelakantan’s reflections on the meaning and lessons of the Ramayana explore the timeless tale much beyond Good versus Evil- indeed showing us how we may perhaps understand life and ourselves in the lessons of the Ramayana. What started as a casual listen turned into a wonderful experience!

The story was gripping enough. However, the performer should have had the respect to make at least a minimum effort to learn how to pronounce Indian names. The Indian accent was bizarre at best- sounded like a parody on Saturday Night Live. I can’t believe this was actually deemed good enough to charge money for.
