Acerca de esta escucha

Fifteen-year-old Vidya dreams of going to college - an unusual aspiration for a girl living in British occupied India during World War II. Then tragedy strikes, and Vidya and her brother are forced to move into a traditional household with their extended family, where women are meant to be married, not educated. Breaking the rules, Vidya finds refuge in her grandfather’s library. But then her brother does something unthinkable, and Vidya’s life becomes a whirlwind of political and personal complications. The question is, will she be strong enough to survive?

This book is the best thing that has ever happened to me! At first when I was just reading the book, I was not into it, but when I discovered audible it changed everything for me and I absolutely loved it. The reader brought the book to life and the book itself is absolutely stunning with all of the descriptions and the way she writes the story. I by far recommend reading this book and doing it on audible. Best book and app ever!

Best book ever

The story was very good, bringing to life an era and a culture beautifully.
The pronunciation by Sumeet Bharathi was indescribably horrible. It sounded like a parody from Saturday Night Live. Could she not taken some effort to learn the names - Ponni not Pony, Raman not Rumun, Kitta not Keetha- and festival names like Krishna Jayanthi?
Disrespectful and sloppy.
Did the author not listen to the outcome?

Good story- absolutely horrible performance
