GREAT STORY. AWFUL "NARRATOR".
Revisado: 01-17-25
I agree with the other reviews that the AI narration almost ruins the story. I suffered through it only because the story was good, but I hope the AI narration ISN'T the way of the future--I will be cancelling my Audible subscription if that's the case!

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

PLEASANT SURPRISE!
Revisado: 10-12-23
This is my first Riley Sager novel & I was a little hesitant because of the mixed reviews. I ended up choosing it anyway & was pleasantly surprised! I liked the story and all the twists & surprises that came along with it! I would definitely recommend the book, BUT, if you're one of those people who doesn't like flashbacks or switching between different characters narrating their part of the story, you probably won't like it!

Historia
Shep Rose, star of Southern Charm and owner of Shep Gear, shares this irreverent and relatable collection of lessons and anecdotes about living an untamed, genuine life, raising hell yet having fun along the way. With his signature endearingly snarky voice, he explores topics as varied as the trials and tribulations of being a late bloomer, the ins and outs of ghosting, how to talk about politics without resorting to blows, the dos and don’ts of getting drunk abroad, and much more.

Loved it!
Revisado: 03-22-21
I've been a fan of Shep's (good or bad) since the beginning of "Southern Charm" and this is a perfect example of why! He IS who he IS, is comfortable with it and makes no apologies for it! The book isn't a great work of literature, but it's funny & entertaining...a nice, easy listen that you'll enjoy if you're a "SC"/Shep/reality TV fan!

LOVED CAM SINCE RW, BUT LOVE HER EVEN MORE NOW!
Revisado: 02-04-21
I originally got "One Day You'll Thank Me" just because I was a fan of Cameran from her "RW" days, through to "Southern Charm". I knew her struggles about whether or not she wanted a child from that, but her telling her own story from that to the breastfeeding (or not) is wonderful! I struggled with breastfeeding my daughter because I WASN'T producing & I felt like I was failing my child by putting her on formula. Hearing Cam be frank & honest and realizing that MANY other women have their own issues with their babies while trying to do their best made me feel better! If you're a fan of Cameran or just want an HONEST look into being a mom, this is a good choice!

OPEN BOOK MADE ME LOVE JESSICA SIMPSON EVEN MORE!
Revisado: 02-06-20
I was never a fan of Jessica's music, but I loved her & Nick on MTV! "Open Book" was such a revealing memoir; it had me in tears for her more than once. (Maybe it was because of her narration, but you could FEEL her sincerity.) I'm glad she has found happiness in her life and love her kind, sweet heart. Definitely worth a credit OR the money.

Historia
In an unthinkable flash, Emmy Fisher’s 15-year-old daughter, Leah, seemingly drowns close to shore one summer night - at least that is what the police report says. In deep grief, Emmy needs time and courage before she can enter Leah’s bedroom. But when she does, she finds something at first bewildering, then unspeakable, as she begins to understand the full implications.... She uncovers evidence that Leah had been secretly involved with someone, someone perhaps older, someone with dark appetites.

OMG--a definite MUST LISTEN!
Revisado: 01-14-20
I haven't had a book keep me so consumed from start to finish for awhile, but "I'll Be Watching You" changed that! As a mother, I was brought to tears feeling for Emmy's loss, then anger after she found out about the older man her daughter had been involved with. I had picked who I thought the "bad guy" was, but I was totally wrong. Tate's writing had enough twists to keep you guessing--I NEVER guessed the actual bad guy until it was spelled out for me at the end! This is definitely worth the credit!

EYE-OPENING LOOK INTO QUEEN'S LIFE!
Revisado: 05-02-18
I have always loved Tammy Wynette simply because of her voice, but after hearing her story, my heart aches for her! I loved all the stories from her growing up, tumultuous time with George, her career...but I HATED when George Richey became more to her than just someone else in the business. It just seems her life went downhill after that. I would recommend this book to any fan of Tammy's or any fan of country music when people actually had talent. EXCELLENT STORY!

Historia
On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the South Pacific by a Japanese submarine. An estimated 300 men were killed upon impact; close to 900 sailors were cast into the Pacific Ocean, where they remained undetected by the navy for nearly four days and nights. Battered by a savage sea, they struggled to stay alive, fighting off sharks, hypothermia, and dementia. By the time rescue arrived, all but 317 men had died. The captain's subsequent court-martial left many questions unanswered

GREAT NARRATIVE!
Revisado: 09-06-17
If you could sum up In Harm's Way in three words, what would they be?
Informative, enlightening and entertaining
Who was your favorite character and why?
I didn't really have a favorite character. I was moreso wanting to learn more about the USS Indianapolis tragedy.
Have you listened to any of Mark Boyett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first, but will NOT be my last!
Any additional comments?
I am not really a history-buff, but certain events do interest me; the sinking of the USS Indianapolis being one of them. I only knew general facts before, but thanks to hearing this, I am much more knowledgeable about this tragedy. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, true story.
