Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Through Rich description and detailed observations- this story unfolds and Israel, Bud layer by layer. It took some time for me to find the right moments to give this Reed the time it demanded. It was definitely worth the wait.

So much of our human body is made up of salt that we'd be dead without it. The fine balance of nature, the trade of salt as a currency of many nations and empires, the theme of a popular Shakespearean play... Salt is best selling author Mark Kurlansky's story of the only rock we eat.

The author of Cod and The Basque History of the World takes an extraordinary look at an ordinary substance — salt, the only rock humans eat — and how it has shaped civilization from the very beginning. Mark Kurlansky has produced a kaleidoscope of history, a multi-layered masterpiece that blends economic, scientific, political, religious, and culinary records into a rich and memorable tale.

Bulls, snakes, sirens and tarts
Revisado: 01-30-24
Definitely recommend this series especially to anyone curious about the backstory of this troublesome family. An entertaining and dramatic narrative about the Borgia family, from the point of view of people under their influence.
My only disappointment in this audiobook is some of the character narrative style choices in the series but the characters were all well voiced and distinctive which was very helpful in following the convoluted story that follows the public life of Julia Farnese via the people that would have been close observers of her during her time as concubine to Rodrigo Borgia.
I also enjoyed that there were three narrators that voiced the different points of view throughout these novels . With an audiobook exceeding 18 hours, there’s much to be said, for selecting, narrators, distinct, vocal quality and broad skill to assist in the listener, keeping up with whose point of view is in the forefront each time they put on the headphones.

I enjoyed bridge across time aspect of this story, the sense of duty and honor, and the chaste infatuation of a long distance connection.
As expected, it was well written, and these net raiders are as good as ever.

Earned every bit of the five stars
Revisado: 06-26-23
A short period of an inspiring life told in an interesting way, well written with enough specific detail of time in place to help a person born during the Vietnam war understand some of the complexities of World War II, France. Couple that with in depth research, judicious compromise in terms of how to combine the influences and characters of multiple real life people into combined characters for the purpose of creating a compelling work of fiction… well it’s more than worth the read.
A note on 5 star status:
If a person were to look through my reviews; I tend to give high marks. Any book that I would not give a high mark, I stop reading before the end and so cannot give a fair assessment. I just don’t have the time or interest to persevere with so many books out there to read. But I do have different criteria depending on genre. A playful, comedic murder mystery does not have to meet the same criteria as this novel, for example. In historical fiction I expect a compelling story with dynamic characters set in a realistic and accurate time and place with minimal compression of the timeline for dramatic story arc.
This novel delivers.
Do not read the authors notes until after reading a novel, and then read the thing again if you have time.

Though there is surely a little information available this is a very interesting and seemingly well researched historical novel. The narration is pleasant and easy to follow and nicely voiced.
