Historia
Devilishly clever, Next blends fact and fiction into a breathless tale of a new world where nothing is what it seems, and a set of new possibilities can open at every turn. Next challenges our sense of reality and notions of morality. Balancing the comic and bizarre with the genuinely frightening and disturbing, Next shatters our assumptions and reveals shocking new choices where we least expect.

Not his best work...
Revisado: 11-13-24
While the overarching topic is quite easy to discern, the multifaceted storyline is taken overboard. While I understand what the author was trying to do; the storylines feel forced together. While I know that some suspension of reality is required with all Mr. Cricton's novels. Having three completely different stories come together is a bit too much for me. The narrator does a fine job, but the added musical line goes on for much too long, distracting from the story. Producer's need to stop with all the sounds; my imagination doesn't need the help.

Lost in it's own words
Revisado: 11-06-24
A muddled mess ofa storyline. The author missed with this story. The start was ok, but the characters require more development. Would have loved to see what Deen Koontz or Steven King would have done with the story's premise.

I've read many Robin Cook novels and although all protagonists have flaws, the character Pia is over the top unlikeable. This book is not the author's top game.

A dark and sweeping adventure, Dreamcatcher is set in the haunted city of Derry - the site of Stephen King's It and Insomnia. In it, four young boys stand together and do a brave, good thing, an act that changes them in ways that they hardly understand. A quarter-century later, as grown men who have gone their separate ways, these friends come together once a year to hunt in the woods of Maine.

Great story telling!
Revisado: 05-30-24
A little discombobulated to start but quickly got organized. Some sections require acute attention to stay on track, but I'll chalk that up to the influence of pain medication and the accident.

Missing something...
Revisado: 05-25-24
I'm not sure I enjoy the Atlee Pines character. I know these are stories but I find it completely unlikely that the FBI would allow 2 employees to go running around using their credentials and using FBI resources on "personal" matters. This mix of Puller and Pines doesn't work.

The different voices are a good touch but I don't need to hear the sound effects for changing a pistol magazine. In fact, the same sound effect is used for swapping magazines on both a pistol and rifle. They have different sounds and IF you are going to use the sound, make it fit the weapon.

Historia
A tangled Trask Brothers thriller you will want to read in one sitting. He knew. There was only a scrap of red material, but he knew. Don Trask, Lead Agent for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, had no doubt what it was. For five years he had locked away the haunting memories associated with his most difficult case, the unsolved disappearance of a small girl. But now those memories had burst from their vault, and the nightmares that came with them were back. And then there was another, a young boy, and Trask knew who had done it. The same man who had taken the girl. The same man...

Stop trying trying to save money by using virtual voice. The narrative timing sucks, as well as missing context causing mispronounced words. Just pay for good human narrators.

Historia
It was supposed to be easy...it turned out to be murder. In the thrilling start to the Trask Brothers Murder Mystery Series, identical twin brothers Dave and Don hunt a silent killer terrorizing anglers in the great north woods. "Spellbinding! I could not put it down. It will keep you on the edge all the way to the end." When Dave Trask ran for sheriff of wild Lake County, he thought the job would entail locating lost campers and catching poachers, and he didn’t really expect to get elected. He was wrong on both counts. Before he can be sworn in, two guests at a small fishing lodge are ...

virtual voice is horrible
Revisado: 05-09-24
I only finished listening to the story because it was free. Decent story but the character development seems rushed. Virtual voice should never be used to narrate a story and I will never pay to listen to a virtual voice. I didn't have to be told it was artificial. Audible should be ashamed of trying to cut out the human voice talent to save money.

Historia
A Nobel Peace Prize recipient beatified by the Catholic Church in 2003, Mother Teresa of Calcutta was celebrated by heads of state and adored by millions for her work on behalf of the poor. In his measured critique, Hitchens asks only that Mother Teresa's reputation be judged by her actions - not the other way around. With characteristic élan and rhetorical dexterity, Hitchens eviscerates the fawning cult of Teresa, recasting the Albanian missionary as a spurious, despotic, and megalomaniacal operative.
