Historia
Six strangers arrive at the home of preeminent puzzle master Alexei Vasiliev for the reading of his will. Among them are the deceased's widow, who'd already begun divorce proceedings, a virologist troubled by actions in his past, and a convicted murderer on day release. The potential beneficiaries will split Vasiliev's $150M fortune if they participate in his last great work. The choice is simple: leave the house with nothing or continue in the hope of solving the six interconnecting escape rooms within this house.

A thriller, not horror
Revisado: 09-27-24
Not much of a puzzle mystery or much horror elements. more just a thriller with supernatural stuff thrown in.

Boring
Revisado: 09-27-24
Characters are not that likable, author didn't seem to know what story they wanted to tell, and the end was lazy and meaningless.

"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Interesting take on LitRPG
Revisado: 10-27-23
This was an odd book for me. I found the women's experience in a LitRPG interesting as it was the first one of found. I liked that they didn't just accept the new rules like most LitRPGs do. The two main characters are great contrasts. Ruekia (not sure if that's spelled right) was extremely annoying to me, but that was for her character development. While I hated her character in this book, I'm interested to see how she develops.

Jurassic Park meets Cabin in the Woods but sucks
Revisado: 10-14-23
I just could not get into this book. It seems like it was an exercise of writing rather than a serious attempt to write something the author wanted. Borrowed heavily from other sources for plot.

Historia
After barely making it out of the Kettle Springs cornfields alive, Quinn’s first year away at college should be safe and easy. All she wants is to be normal again. But instead, Quinn finds that her past won’t leave her alone when she becomes the focus of online conspiracy theories that claim the Kettle Springs Massacre never happened. It’s a deranged but relentless fantasy, and there’s nothing Quinn can do to get people to hear the truth—not even on her own campus or in her own dorm room.

Good, but the pacing could have been faster
Revisado: 09-22-23
The story was interesting and incorporated the rise of internet conspiracies into the story in a believable manner. Not much character development for the two guys. The beginning of the story was slow and stretched out and the ending came off a little rushed. Wish they expanded the events near the end more and cut down on the beginning.

Historia
Six months ago, the world watched in horror as we lost an American city. The Grinder. That's what the survivors of Tucson called the monster. Just one touch, and they became a part of it. It used their bodies as limbs and as weapons. In just a matter of hours, it became huge, a towering monstrosity made entirely out of tens of thousands of people and animals.

I love Matt's other books, but this one wasn't for me. The concept was interesting and unique, but the characters were terrible. They were all so toxic that I couldn't relate to them or care what happened to them.

Historia
Eight-year-old Brooklyn Mercer has gone missing. And as accustomed as FBI agents Eliza Sterling and Brandon Eddison are to such harrowing cases, this one has struck a nerve. It marks the anniversary of the disappearance of Eddison’s own little sister. Disturbing, too, is the girl’s resemblance to Eliza - so uncanny they could be mother and daughter. With Eddison’s unsettled past rising again with rage and pain, Eliza is determined to solve this case at any cost. But the closer she looks, the more reluctant she is to divulge to her increasingly shaken partner what she finds.

Lame series
Revisado: 09-09-23
Gave the entire series a shot and they were not for me. The books aren't about the crimes, its about the agent's personal issues. They take the spotlight and make the crime all about themselves and only themselves. There is no investigation work, the criminal is always just handed to them. Didn't care about any of the characters or the story.

not much of a story
Revisado: 08-30-23
If you're into hearing the same thing over and over again, this book is for you. Not much of a story except the character explaining what happened about 8 times. The agents are all idiots that don't even work on cases, but seem to sit around and brood over how they've seen such horrible things. The "thriller" part of the book doesn't take place until the last 10% of the book. The rest is every character needing to explain the same thing over and over again. The narrators were a poor choice, the one mumbled and the other didn't even try to make his characters sound different.

Would have been better if shorter
Revisado: 07-09-23
The idea was good, but some parts just dragged on and didn't even go anywhere. If it had been 4hrs, it would have been much better and intense I feel. As for the story, well told but nothing really unique. Has a lot of the tropes that these stories tend to have. Got it while it was a daily deal, so the price was worth the story.

Nice expansion of the author's universe
Revisado: 07-07-23
I like when an author expands their universe by bringing in new unrelated stories (at least for now) rather than play one storyline into the ground. This one was a bit more narrative heavy compared to the Landing storyline, but it worked. Interested to see where this goes and if/when it will cross with the Landing storyline. For those that didn't read/listen to the Landing series, you don't need to in order to enjoy this series. But if you like this one, you'll like that one.
