OK
Revisado: 12-18-19
The narrators attempt at female voices really spoiled this book. The rest of the time it was fine.
The story was ok with bits of historical background of the Middle East providing an insight to the huge dilemma that is Israel and its neighbours.

Orphan X at his best.
Revisado: 11-24-19
I really enjoy the Orphan X series. The last book was disappointing but back on track with this one. Narration is so important to the success of an audiobook and Scott Brick is amazing. Now waiting for the next in the series.

Revisado: 09-05-19
Not a lot of substance to the story, even though it covered an interesting part of American history. It lacked depth in the characters and lost me totally about halfway through. The narration was good and held the book together.

Historia
In the sleepy rural town of Painters Mill, Ohio, the Amish and "English" residents have lived side by side for two centuries. But 16 years ago, a series of brutal murders shattered the peaceful farming community. Kate Burkholder, a young Amish girl, survived the terror of the Slaughterhouse Killer but came away from its brutality with the realization that she no longer belonged with the Amish. Now, a wealth of experience later, Kate has been asked to return to Painters Mill as Chief of Police. She's certain she's come to terms with her past - until the first body is discovered in a snowy field.

A perfection narration combined with an edge of seat story had me listening at every opportunity. An interesting look at the Amish and how they fit in with other communities. I’m looking forward to the series now.

Historia
In this Hugo-winner from Connie Willis, when too many jumps back to 1940 leave 21st century Oxford history student Ned Henry exhausted, a relaxing trip to Victorian England seems the perfect solution. But complexities like recalcitrant rowboats, missing cats, and love at first sight make Ned's holiday anything but restful - to say nothing of the way hideous pieces of Victorian art can jeopardize the entire course of history.

So disappointing.
Revisado: 07-04-18
I have loved Connie Willis previous books - going back to the plague and the blitz, but this was one of the most tedious reads I’ve had in a while. So much ado about nothing!! All talk and no action!!
The narration was fine, just no story.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-05-17
I struggled to get through this book. The premise of the story was interesting enough but lacked depth and lacked character development. Several phrases were repeated throughout the story which was really annoying.
The narrator had a sing song voice that didn't appeal and didn't change from one situation to the next.
I recommend giving this one a miss.

Good listen
Revisado: 07-13-17
I really enjoyed Orphan X. I enjoyed the contrast between Evan's ordinary life at home, even though home was a fortress, and the action-packed battle to stay alive. We got a good insight into his character, his past and his hopes for the future. Evan is a true hero and I look forward to more in the series.
Scoot Brick was perfect as usual.
