Winner of the 2017 Ned Kelly Award

Another thrilling mystery featuring Detective Sean Duffy and his most dangerous investigation yet.

Belfast, 1988. A man is found dead, killed with a bolt from a crossbow in front of his house. This is no hunting accident. But uncovering who is responsible for the murder will take Detective Sean Duffy down his most dangerous road yet, a road that leads to a lonely clearing on a high bog where three masked gunmen will force Duffy to dig his own grave.

Hunted by forces unknown, threatened by Internal Affairs, and with his relationship on the rocks, Duffy will need all his wits to get out of this investigation in one piece.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Narrator Gerard Doyle has provided the voice of Adrian McKinty's Sean Duffy since the first audiobook of the series. Returning for Book 6, he's more in tune with Duffy's complexity than ever before.... McKinty's blend of dark drama with perfectly timed humor and intensely plotted action is performed by Doyle as though he's intimately familiar with Duffy's mind, heart, and body. Listeners comprehend the vastness of Duffy's emotion without a caricatured delivery. Doyle delivers another winning narration." ( AudioFile)

Five stars is small praise for Duffy. The writing as usual is beyond first rate. The characters are real to the point of feeling for them as if you were related to them and the narrative is excellent. The story is bold and exciting and keeps one wondering what could possibly be coming next. A great and fulfilling read/listen. Don't miss it. Mike Dunn

Duffy is worthy of BBC , public tv production

I like the Sean Duffy series and Adrian McKinty's writing.

This book seemed like a transition story. Sean is heading into middle age, is now a dad and although not married he does have a serious girlfriend that seems likely to stay in the series unless she gets killed like so often happens in these crime thrillers.

I can't say that this edition of the Duffy series was terribly exciting. We do get to listen how an IRA assassination team worked or was supposed to work. But Sean and team do their normal due diligence in working a murder where some important people want the case to go away but Sean won't give up.

At times I wondered if McKinty was ready to end the series but, in the end, he has it positioned to grow and it could go in many different directions.

This is a very well-written and entertaining book, with engaging characters and an interesting plot. I really like our hero, Sean Duffy, a Catholic officer in the Royal Ulster Constabulary in Northern Ireland. He's smart, witty, and fallible. The rest of the characters are engaging, too. These books are set in the 1980s, so they are blessedly devoid of technobabble. I would recommend listening to the whole series in order.

Excellent book in a great series

I always love Adrian McKinty's, Sean Duffy novels and Gerard Doyle has the perfect voice for bringing them to life
Finishing one always brings a mixture of satisfaction and sadness. Satisfaction in the way he ties it all together and sadness that I have to wait patiently to see if he will write another! Mr. McKinty, write fast please!

Never disappoints...

This is one of my all-time favorite series. The writing is great and narration is excellent. Adrian McKinty is an excellent but underappreciated writer. Plot, characters, prose, syntax; very worthy of listening and or reading. His work is to be savored.

Great as always
