Like the idea of dystopian escape by boat?
Revisado: 04-21-25
Me too! But despite that book cover you might love, I’m listening to chapter 13 in BOOK TWO (that’s the next book not this one) they have just now got it together and the glow plugs on the boat are being turned on. We shall see if it will be got time or 43 more chapters of carrot shaving hijinks. Ok captain stick in the mud time for you and your trusty hound to stop rinsing off the deck 100 yards away from the harbor and motor on out to logical safety. You can do this. Thankfully this was a free book or else no way ✌️.

Historia
Scotty and his friends Pete and Jason are among the last seven kids at their high school waiting to get picked up that day, and they soon realize that no one is coming for them. Still, it doesn't seem so bad to spend the night at school, especially when distractingly hot Krista and Julie are sleeping just down the hall. But then the power goes out, then the heat. The pipes freeze, and the roof shudders. As the days add up, the snow piles higher, and the empty halls grow colder and darker, the mounting pressure forces a devastating decision.

Overall, pretty good and listenable
Revisado: 04-18-25
Plenty of those moments where you’re like dude, really. Are you dumb? But as these kind of stories go it’s well above the collective average. So yea. I give it a thumbs up.

Narrator is painful
Revisado: 02-10-25
Compared to the original and that narrator it’s night and day. This story seems good but it’s hard to get past the sound.

Why KSR doesn’t do sequels usually
Revisado: 01-15-25
Love KSRs work. This series is my least favorite. Intelligent as always but so much drama. He must have been going through things with some females in his life when he wrote these. Lord save him if Anne is inspired by someone he knows.
Favorite book: Shaman.

Revisado: 11-26-24
They really need to give us options on the virtual voice character voice. As far as the book goes amidst the many many many like it I’d give it a 9 out of 10. Maybe 8 out of 10. But good.

Historia
For the last 100,000 years, we Sapiens have accumulated enormous power. But despite all our discoveries, inventions, and conquests, we now find ourselves in an existential crisis. The world is on the verge of ecological collapse. Misinformation abounds. And we are rushing headlong into the age of AI—a new information network that threatens to annihilate us. For all that we have accomplished, why are we so self-destructive? Nexus looks through the long lens of human history to consider how the flow of information has shaped us, and our world.

Wow. Confirmation bias leads the way on this one.
Revisado: 11-06-24
His Sapiens book like this one starts strong with data and facts linked together. Then he lets his personal life perspective shite all over his data. By the time we get to the computer and AI section you might as well turn it off unless you already know AI well. However if your confirmation bias is that everything is bad and AI is the antichrist then this guy is for you. This guy is sadly a news at five be afraid and spread the word (and buy my book) scam. I don’t think he’s faking it. He’s genuinely scared and sees himself as a victim so it is what it is but if you’re intelligent and following along with the classic scam of using threat and fear as a means of attention gathering then you get it. Probably will return this one. Can’t support the kind of work that confirms that ai is bad to the fearful sheep watching the five o clock news. How long til we break out of this antiquated and previously legitimate life navigation logic.
HOW TO FACT CHECK ME:
Navigate to anywhere in the middle of chapter six
Listen for five minutes to his doom and gloom rant
Listen to it again and you’ll note that when providing his most alarmist extreme statements not once does he provide detailed context as to why this will occur. Also he provides no counterbalanced point of views. Why not? Because he did just enough research to fulfill his anchor bias that humans = doom. And here is the enemy. Classic base persuasion tactics of all the people you don’t like from the history books. The thinking that took people backwards. That’s this guy.

Lots of money and effort spent on quality audio. 2 💩💩 given on the main point of the thing - the story
Revisado: 08-29-24
Disjointed. Hard to follow. Extremely good audio production. Like they had a great time nerding out on all their voice actors and studio time but the director was watching pole dancers in a club in Cuba when he should have been making a good audio book in the studio with the rest of the team. I listened all the way through because of that production quality waiting for it to start unveiling the intriguing story but then the credits rolled and it was like - what?

Yay. Listen to someone complaining for 10 minutes per episode
Revisado: 06-09-24
Basically 3 minutes of announcing what you’re listening to, 6 minutes of an unrealistic pilot complaining and whining then one minute of announcing you can go to discord to talk about the episode. Then it’s over. Who would go to discord. What would they talk about? There’s nothing to talk about. I’m on the 4th episode and he is screaming about this not being a simulation. Boom. You’re all caught up.

Wowww. Did they really just go there at the end??🙈
Revisado: 05-14-24
So this audiobook was passively listenable until I got to the end and we learned what the sweet baby Jesus actually was compared to. Ps. Not a religious issue here. wow wow. just can’t get away from it. Can we? This is why Trump has got such a big following because everything has to be so extreme and divisionists. Not recommended.
