Historia
Rosemary Mahoney tells the story of Braille Without Borders, the first school for the blind in Tibet, and of Sabriye Tenberken, the remarkable blind woman who founded the school. Fascinated and impressed by what she learned from the blind children of Tibet, Mahoney was moved to investigate further the cultural history of blindness. As part of her research, she spent three months teaching at Tenberken's international training center for blind adults in Kerala, India, an experience that reveals both the shocking oppression endured by the world's blind, as well as their great resilience.

Absolutely beautiful book
Revisado: 01-29-19
Great book! I thoroughly enjoyed learning so much about the blind. I, too, held my own preconceived notions and beliefs regarding the blind. A few years ago, I witnessed a blind lady at my gym doing box jumps and other exercises, so that was the beginning of a new world view for me, and this book brought it so much further. The students' lives illustrated here was fantastic.

What a story
Revisado: 03-21-18
Wow. I never thought I would be recommending a Christian romance novel, but this one is gritty, humbling, and uplifting all in one. I could relate to the bitterness and pain throughout. Excellent illustration of one of the oddest books in the Bible (Hosea).

Historia
In this eye-opening account, Cal Newport debunks the long-held belief that "follow your passion" is good advice. Not only is the cliché flawed - preexisting passions are rare and have little to do with how most people end up loving their work - but it can also be dangerous, leading to anxiety and chronic job hopping. After making his case against passion, Newport sets out on a quest to discover the reality of how people end up loving what they do.

Best career advice book I've ever read!
Revisado: 01-18-18
Man, what a read! This is, by far, the best career advice book I've ever read. I, too, have suffered from the bewailing search for my calling/passion all to no avail. How refreshing to hear that I've been putting the cart before the horse. I look forward to implementing the author's practical and straightforward advice, as well as rereading the material.
I would also highly suggest this as a gift to recent high school or college grads. It would've saved me many headaches.

Historia
Reigning CrossFit world champion Rich Froning is "the fittest man on Earth". He's fast, he's strong, and he's incredibly disciplined. But it takes more than physical strength to compete and win at an elite level. It takes incredible mental and spiritual toughness as well. And it is the precise balance of all three that makes Rich Froning a champion.

Not a crossfit training/strategy book
Revisado: 08-05-15
I have a lot of respect for Rich Froning. He's obviously a beast physically and mentally, he's humble, and is strong in his convictions without coming across as preachy. However, this book is pretty pointless except to give his history and experience at the games. its high level and written at a third grade level. Not much depth or helpful insights.
