Rob Walton’s first book for children, Please Don’t Read The Footnotes Please, is published by The Emma Press. Described as “zingy, playful and warm”, it is proving very popular with children and adults. Rob writes short fiction and poetry for children and adults, and his work has appeared in all sorts of books, magazines and anthologies. His debut poetry collection for adults, This Poem Here, was published by Arachne Press in 2025. He has both won and judged the UK's National Flash Fiction Day micro-fiction competition and placed second in Aotearoa New Zealand's contest. His words have appeared on The National Poetry Day website, in The Mighty Iron's matchday magazine, shop windows, a LUSH gift box and a memorial pathway. He has performed, written and taught in the North East of England for a number of years. He has also written for performance, including several pantomimes and shows for The Big Fun Club. He has also collaborated with artists Russell Coleman and Bethan Laker He was born in sunny Scunny and lives in Whitley Bay. He sometimes writes sentences beginning with words other than ‘He’.
