Mel Herbert is an ER doctor, author, husband, and father with a captivating journey. Born and raised in the rugged beauty of the Australian outback, he honed his medical skills working in hospitals across California, Australia, Kenya, and Chile. He is the founder of both EM:RAP and the non-profit, EM:RAP GO, which creates and distributes Emergency Medicine education in over 160 countries. Dr. Herbert also served as a consultant on the hit TV show, "ER" and the new show “The Pitt” for the streaming platform MAX. Despite his success, he believes in the power of ordinary individuals to achieve greatness, as outlined in his memoir, “The Extraordinary Power of Being Average.” Now residing in the picturesque haven of Santa Barbara, Mel crafts compelling stories inspired by his youth and diverse experiences in his adopted countries. His first work of fiction, "The Ring Tree Murders," is the first of many stories to come.
