A husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, teacher and coach, M.W. Nunneley graduated from Alpena High School and Central Michigan University. He grew up in a family-owned pharmacy business, worked for an Anheuser Busch distributor, owned his own photo center and photo studios (which got crushed when digital photography came on the scene), taught at Alpena Community College for 9 years and served as an elected official in local politics. Nunneley grew up at "The Cottage" at Long Lake north of Alpena and at "Camp" just west of his hometown. "My grandfathers and uncles taught me to fish and I learned to hunt from my Dad and his camp buddies," Nunneley recalled. "Those lessons and experiences made a boy into a young man into an adult, I treasure those memories every day." In addition, Nunneley has coached his children in softball, hockey, and golf. He's won championships at every level and his teams have produced multiple local and state level competitors. Six of his former athletes have gone on to collegiate careers. He created his Family Wild series to bridge today's gap of between families, nature and the arts. He tells a story of a young man who came in third in fishing tournament he created. The boy raced up, accepted his trophy with shaking hands and said - “Mister, thank you so much, I never, EVER, dreamed I’d ever win a trophy. Thank you - Thank you!” This young man may never participate in baseball, never run track, or may never join the band. He might never win a spelling bee or play third string tackle on a high school football team. But because of simple kids’ fishing tournament, a child had won a trophy he’d earned and created a memory he’d never forget. In that moment, Nunneley knew he had to pursue Family Wild for all the young hunters, anglers and artists who live for the woods and the water. Nunneley admits he's not the best fisherman or hunter in the world. "I've never shot a Boone & Crockett buck or won a big fishing tournament. I just know some of my favorite memories happened at the lake and camp. If I could go fishing with one more time with my Grandpa's or if I could go hunting with a couple of our friends who have passed, I'll give you anything I own." In addition to his Family Wild series, Nunneley has also authored a series of finance/banking books. A banker for the last thirteen years, M.W. points out financial tips most bankers won't talk about in "10 Financial Tips for You and Your Family - Unless You Hate Your Family."
