Liese Greensfelder is a journalist and editor who writes about biology, earth sciences and medicine. A native of California, she lived in Norway for three years in the 1970s, working on farms, studying at ag school and running the mess hall aboard a Norwegian coastal freighter. With an M.S. in agricultural sciences from UC Davis, she has worked as a county agricultural advisor, spearheaded an agricultural development project in the Guatemalan highlands, and held the position of public information representative in the news offices of UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and UCSF. In 1975, her book about running a Norwegian sheep farm on her own became a best-seller in Norway: "Hardanger—her kjem eg!," H. Aschehoug & Co., Oslo. She is co-editor of and contributor to "The Nature of This Place: Investigations and Adventures in the Yuba Watershed," Comstock Bonanza Press, 2011, and the author of "Accidental Shepherd: How a California Girl Rescued an Ancient Mountain Farm in Norway," Univ of Minnesota Press.
