Julia Gray is a London-based author, teacher and singer-songwriter. She has written three books for young adults (all published by Andersen Press). Her Norse-mythology-influenced novel The Otherlife (2016) was nominated for the Carnegie Medal and longlisted for the Branford Boase Award. Little Liar (2018), a tale of friendship, performance and the dangers of telling lies, was also nominated for the Carnegie Medal and shortlisted for Best YA Novel and the Crimefest Awards. I, Ada was published in September 2020 and explores the tumultuous teenage years of Ada Lovelace, inventor of the machine algorithm. To accompany the publication of I, Ada, Julia has worked on a podcast series called On the rADAr, in which she interviews women in science. Julia has released six albums: three with the trip-hop/jazz collective Second Person, and three as a solo artist. Her 2014 album Robber Bride was produced by award-winning South African producer Paul Ressel and recorded with the support of the Arts Council. Named after the novel The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood, the album explores how turning points in contemporary and ancient narratives can be reflected in song. Her most recent EP, Songs for Nora Tobias, was released in June 2018 as a companion piece to her novel Little Liar. www.thisisjuliagray.com
