My name is Hege and I am the author of Savage Street. I am a mother and a skilled Child Care-and Youth Worker with many years of experience from working in the primary school. After some years in this job, it occurred to me that adults often do not accept children's feelings, especially when it comes to fear, "there is nothing to be afraid of" one often hears, just as it helps, the children are still just as afraid and in addition they feel stupid and misunderstood. So I decided to write this book, but since I am a fan of humour, I decided to write a funny story about a serious subject. In my years working in the school, it also occured to me that quite often adults are rude to children, we say things to them, that we would never, ever say to an adult, and it is not ok. With my books I want to tell the children that they are clever, wise and that they can achieve the most incredible things. I am Norwegian, and I write in Norwegian. My books are beeing translated by skilled translators, and edited by an english speaking editor. I have more books coming, only waiting to be translated. When I am not writing books, I love to go for a ride on the horseback, do gardening and in the winther I crochet bookmarks.
