Erin's path to supporting parents with grief and trauma was forged through profound personal experience. As the founding Executive Director of Jessica's House since 2011, she has created a sanctuary where thousands of grieving children, teens, and families find support and understanding in their darkest hours. Her deep connection to grief work began when she was widowed at a young age, facing the challenge of raising two small children—ages three and five—after the death of her husband, Tyler. Shortly afterward, she faced another devastating loss when her mother died by suicide, leading Erin to raising her 15-year-old sister. These experiences revealed to her the importance of grief support for families, particularly children. In 2019, her journey through loss continued when her son Carter died in an accident. A certified trauma practitioner through the National Institute of Trauma and Loss in Children, Erin brings both professional expertise and hard-won personal insight to her work. She is the author of When Grief Comes Home with Jessica's House staff member Colleen Montague, written for parents raising grieving children. Erin and Colleen co-host the podcast When Grief Comes Home Erin lives in the Central Valley of California with her husband Bryan, where they cherish time spent with their children, grandchildren, friends and family. She loves queso, reading, and pickleball. Through her writing and leadership, she continues to transform her experiences of profound loss into hope and healing for others.
