Elizabeth Hilborn, DVM is a veterinarian who specializes in honey bee medicine. She’s worked as a disease detective with the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For the past 25 years, she has also served as an environmental health scientist with the US Environmental Protection Agency where she investigates the health effects of emerging infectious diseases, extreme weather, and water pollution. Her guiding principle is to support life on our planet and to ensure a healthy and secure food future for us all. An avid gardener and fruit grower, for decades she’s fed family and friends with fresh produce from her family’s farm in central North Carolina. She supports native pollinators and works with native plants to restore degraded wildlife habitat on her land. Her new book, Restoring Eden (August 2023), is the true story of loss, discovery, and recovery in her rural North Carolina community.
