Don J. Carey III was raised in Hampton Roads, VA where he and his family still reside. In 2014 he and his wife Lakeisha married and now are the proud parents of two children (Victor & Amelia). Don received his Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction Technology from Norfolk State University in 2009 and shortly after was drafted into the NFL. He has spent two years with the Jacksonville Jaguars and has been with the Detroit Lions since 2011. He is currently studying to receive his Masters in Theological Studies with a focus in the Old Testament from Moody Theological Seminary. Don is also the founder of "The Don Carey REECH Foundation" which is geared towards reaching, educating, & empowering in children, particularly in the area of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). All proceeds from his new book "It's Not Because I'm Better Than You" will go to The REECH Foundation to help continue their efforts in the lives of inner-city youth. In 2016 Don was nominated for Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which will be given an NFL player for his outstanding commitment to community service. In the offseason, Don and his wife travel the country speaking and motivating the next generation to think critically and take advantage of every opportunity to better themselves.
